Well, I did a lot of messing around yesterday, and from what I can tell this is the best opening strategy on Noble, given these assumptions:
1.) Exploration is not as important and you are given a free warrior
2.) city growth is halted during worker/settler production
3.) You will not get a second city for a LONG time
Step 1: Maximize your amount of food and gold to research impervious growth worker techs such as pottery, animal husbandry, and agriculture. If you have a good chance at Hinduism or Buddhism, go for it (usually you can get Hinduism it seems). Wait til size 3 or 4 before start on WORKER
Step 2: Use the worker to build farms, and get your tiles to get some serious production going
Step 3: In between each worker/settler, build granary or military so you can experience some growth in your capital
Step 4: Research Bronze Working so you can harvest forests. Forests are AMAZING in Civilization IV, and can help you get out those settlers, and even help your wonder production.
This seems to be the best way to expand, from what I can tell. What strategies have you guys found?
