OK so I'll play the rest of my set tonight with top priority to getting a world war started.
Of course, if I can get PSV in trade I will. Earlier we were offered sheild 3 in trade but I think that is unlikely to help. I think better to wait.
Build a scanner ship to check out the psi fleet.
No point in building bases I think--better to research. Pump up PSV and RC4 research.

2415 and the psilons have just declared war on us.
unfortunately neither humans or sili will attack psi or break alliance with them.
hmm. We try to offer humans tech to improve relations(from neutral) but they don't want anything we have. Not really sure what else to try.

2416 psi death fleet inbound to Toranor. Try to steal from sili as we are ahead of them on comp.

2417 current report on psi. VII sheilds but no beam weapons. Fusion bomb and merc missile, zort armor, SL drives, RC4.
Humans go to relaxed and no longer allied with psi so try asking them to attack psi but no dice. Maybe if we get a tech they need that might do it.

2418 psilons attack Toranor. Fleet has the following:
star streak med sh3, 1 gat, 1 laser
Sun fire huge 41 gatling, 17 fusion, 1 hyper v 1 las, IS, sh3
coraona large 15 fusion
star blazer 1 heavy laser, 2 laser.

toranar destroyed.

Looking at the psi fleet class 4 sheilds would enable us to run them off!
Humans have class 4 and repulsor beam so I try and trade with them. They are willing to trade class 4 for BC4 which I do.

Scrap pop 1.0 and design placeholder to wait for sublights. Start one each in uxmai and Keeta. Sili will trade neutron blaster for IS. With the psi ships having fusion bombs PSV is no longer as compelling. I decide to take it as we have no beams ourselves.

2419 psi fleet retreats to hyboria (speed 1) they do not found toranar. They have only range 5 so we are safe for the moment. With any luck a war may break out over toranar. Human fleet inbound toranar. Design scanner 2.0 and change placeholder build at uxmai to build 2 (last turns build--don't add anything more now that danger has subsided). My thought here is that we may get a look at the human fleet at toranar on the cheap here.
Building factories/research everywhere.

Unfortunately only class V
Sublight pops we have range 8 and fusion. Tough choice as I really like fusion but seems we need a range.
Ion rifle pops and we have hard and fusion beams, I choose fusion. That is a real disappointment.

Change sili spy back to hide--next player can decide if worth espionage.
We have 1 spy with each but have turned off spending and all set to hide.
Building sheilds only at cygni.

while we just got PSV, we are only building sheilds in Cygni.
We have a turn of build in on placeholder at Keeta.
scanner ships are to check out human fleet when it gets to toranar.
Most importantly Psilon DO NOT have the range to reach us now, and their fleet has almost no capacity to hit class IV sheilds.

Well, let´s see, only Psilons in the war. I up defense spending to get those shields up despite the fact that the brains are outta range, this can change. Checking the techs, the Rocks don´t have anything vital, so espionage seems for now a bad idea.

I feared so, Keeta is under attack. Only old laser ships in the first round, beat them off.

And a vote. Humans+Psilons get 10 votes out of 19. The Humans break the pact and go to wary. Bleh, should we have voted them so they win?;) For our Ion Rifles the Rocks help us against the Brains. We need all the help we can get. And Keeta is dead, thanks to Fusion Bombs. Damn.:(

In good news, my espionage against the Psilons paid off, but we get no luck, no CPU to choose from. I decide on Planetology. Improved ECO Restore. Damn we got better.

Keeta is dead, but at least contact is broken off. Toranor is settled by the Humans.

Shields complete on most planets. Bases are useless anyway, as the enemy got Huges, resettling Keeta will likely result in another bombing run.

Well, I sit around and wait for Robot Control IV to come in. The Humans are enroute to Uxmai, our best shields are online, but we might wanna put another base there. Robot Control IV is soon there, and we need it.

Guys, this will be a rough ride. We are not beaten yet, but Toranor and Keeta hurt.

We block Keeta atm, but I am not sure if we should resettle it, just yet.

The 2nd Human fleet seems indeed to be headed towards Keeta. I design a medium ship with blasters as our popfighters might not cut it.

I refound Keeta, even though it might not last long. We need contact with the Psilons, to either break their alliance with the Humans or make peace in order to avoid a dogpile. Speaking of it, the Human/Psilon Alliance is no more, but no luck with the Humans for joining the war. Psilons would make peace for Ion Rifle, but I decline for the moment.

  • To add insult to injury, a large Human fleet is on its way to Paranar.

And just as I thought thing couldn't get any worse, a Psilon fleet with 400+ ships is incoming at Keeta. Suddenly, the ion-rifle deal doesn't look so bad, so I swallow my pride and buy peace.

1st wave at Cygnis repelled, 2nd wave incoming, sporting the new large Escort design and 160 destroyers.

We remain victorious, but lose 3 of our 7 bases ... close call (one base less, and we would have lost Cygni).

  • First wave at Paranar repelled, new fleet incoming at Uxmai
  • The Human losses register on the fleet graph - they are en par with the Psilons.
  • Try again with the Psilons on the diplo front but no luck (not even minimal trade)

  • Fleet might be headed for Tau Cygni (can't wait for those adv. scanners) instead of Uxmai
  • A Silicoid colship might be headed for Toxic Collassa in our backyard, I send some blaster 3.0 to intercept, just in case.

All in all, the situation is not too bad. Our planets are far from being maxed out, but at least they are still ours. If we can make it past the vote with all our planets, we might in fact think about going offensive.

Nicely held out, Emperor ignatius. With our bases up and well protected, things look a lot less dire then during my turn. At least we reclaimed Keeta. Toranor was probably a bit too risky right from the getgo.
 
What really saved the day was the fact that the Humans have only heavy blasters to attack our bases and that their ships have lousy computers. The biggest danger are still the Psilons - due to their alliance they can now attack most of our planets (not only Keeta as they used to) and they have fusion bombs. Also, their ships are so fast that we will rarely have more than one or two turns of warning time.

OK- here we go. Nice job of holding out guys. Looks like we will come under attack at Paranar and Uxmai--build a few more bases at Paranar.
I see Psi are no longer allied with Human. This is good.

Plan to try and hold Keeta, if possible get a trade agreement with Psi to improve relations and if possible get peace with Human.

2441 Humans attack Paranar. Escort class has 5 heavy blast and warp dis.
Dest 1 heavy blast. No losses Human fleet bypasses Uxmai--looks like Tau Cygni is dest. Sili will trade sheilds 4 for IT8 or range 6. We have a lot of factories to build but I hold off. Both psi and human have class 7.

2442 Humans sending out fleet piecemeal--this is good.

2443 lose a base at Tau but repel Tau and Uxmai. Sili colonize Uxmai.
Sili get weapon and sheild secrets. They will now trade for ion stream projecter which I give up RC4 for.

2444 Human attack Uxmai. Warship has hard beams, IS, WD and sheild 4.
Ion stream is really too big to fit on a large at our current tech level. I should have taken IT 8 when I had the chance. Psi trade 100/yr.

2445 Humans attack Uxmai-no losses. They refuse peace.

2446 ...

2447 ARS in IT6 next (I skip battle suits backfill). Human fleet looks to be inbound Uxmai.

2448 Human fleet bypasses Uxmai looks like Tau. Psi have improved to restless.

2449...

2450 repel human fleet at Tau lose a base. Psi steal IT 9.

A small human fleet appears to be inbound Keeta looks like moving warp 2. Corvette class dest has hard beam, neutron beam and IS. Escort has 4 sheilds and the warp dissipator so I think we need more ships and a new design with a 2 range. Leave that for the next emperor to plan the defense of Keeta.
