OT improvement suggestions

We could split it up:

News Stories subforum
Meaningless Jabber subforum
Debate subforum
etc.

That's far too many splits and we've already spun off science from OT and given it a proper place, since that was the area that seems least able to hold its own in the OT setting.

That and news/debate/meaningless jabber can often be synonyms. :mischief:

Having evolved in my political positions since joining CFC, I've posted in OT as an outright Communist, Democratic Socialist, and currently what I consider to be a moderate. I have never noticed anything even vaguely resembling bias. Luceafarul, where are you getting this from?
While I don't post embarassingly often, I read most of the threads concerning political topics, and I am also frequently in contact with like-minded people on PM-basis.
It is my impression that there are things of political character that one should refrain from writing - warnings and ban are not cool.

As you can see I can't comment on your rambling, just remark that you are for some reason missing the point and that accusations of arrogance are indeed a compliment coming from certain people under certain circumstances.

Moderator Action: luceafarul, mise: If you want to continue this discussion, please take it to PM. Your accusations against each other are borderline flaming, and are not really constructive to this thread.
I see very little use in such a PM-conversation.
I am also leaving this thread, it has been a strange experience. It is almost amusing to see how certain conformists cringe only at the prospect of having a red as a moderator - almost like nuns in a military camp. But since there seem to be little enthusiasm for such an outrageous idea, they are not jeopardizing their beauty sleep.

I've never seen anything like that. Could you give some examples?

...What?

If you'd care to PM me with specific examples where you feel that mod representation from your end of the political spectrum might have changed the result of something, I'd certainly like to see them. I (and my own sense is that all the mods do) take great pains to leave their politics aside when determining whether something is a troll, flame, or what have you. If there is still an inherent bias, it is almost certainly unintentional, and perhaps specifics could help us examine and do away with a blind spot.
I'd ask for the same. Maybe some of you may consider me leaning right but I doubt my political views have ever stopped me from leveling infractions for flaming, trolling, spamming, inappropriateness or language.

So get a socialist moderator. Soon we'll find out that little will change because the moderators here don't use their powers as a battering ram for their positions.
