the guide say you can use units outside the first 9 blocks..

You can assign a city's population to either work in the surrounding tiles, harvesting raw resources and materials, or in buildings and city improvements where those resources are manufactured into goods. Each building can be filled with a certain amount of workers.


How do you do this?????

Click on a colonist who is working in the fields (the 9 tile block) and drag him to the building where you want him to work. Alternatively you can double click on the colonist and that will give you a list of professions to choose from.
