playing india wide

i always see ppl say that india is best played tall with few big cities but i have a totally different experience ..
emperor large map 8 civs 12 cs sandstorm continents.
i settled my own 2 cities and went to war with napoleon and later ceaser and ashur..i have now 18 cities by end of industrial all of them annexed!! built courthouse in each city and always stay at +40 happiness positive..when i conquer a 30 citizen city its reduced to about 18 i wait for resistance to end and annex and it only drops about 10 happiness but after i build courthouse than happiness jumps by 20!
i have now 80 happiness so will continue to conquer all..its too easy.anyone had this before?

India of coz can play wide, and your playstyle is correct.

Though from your experience, my advice is that you should be playing at a higher difficulty.

well i found it strange too but it actually works.try to conquer a large city as india wait for resistance end built court youll see it too
