This is my productivity record I think! Do you have some thing better?

I'll take a guess at that. 15 people, and one settler. You also have King Richard's Crusade, I presume.

What Louis came after Louis the 3rd?

How many metric gallons in a furlong?

I have a population of 20 or some thing. In the city (Rome "in real place") I had every city improvement you can build but no King Richard's Crusade (and it wouldn't help because I had industrialization)! But I do have Apollo program, SETI Program and Cure fore Cancer.

I see what C was saying. If you have 31 food being used, and each person uses 2, then 15 x 2 = 30. + 1 for the Settler.

Håkan, I'm confused <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/confused.gif" border=0> How can you have 20 something people and get this screen?

Oh, I understand now. Hakan is putting his slobbish citizens on a big nationwide diet and only feeding them one food per turn until them slim up.

Seriously though, is that what's happening?

You got me! I actually had size 30 (+1 settler). I don't know if this is cheating but changed the rules.txt so that every people in the city just eat 1 food. BUT THAT DOESN'T EFFECT THE PRODUCTION! Does it? I don't think so. Maybe it does.

I haven't cheated att all! At least not in the game menu. But I don't think editing the rules.txt is cheating. Every scenario maker does it!

Nah, it doesn't affect production. I'm always messing around with the rules.txt/game.txt too.

Yes It does affect production becaue your city will grow faster and have more people getting prodution faster!

I was thinking that, too, V .... but then I thought: if we're talking about maximum production here, you only have so many squares to produce from. As soon as you have (what's the number?) enough citizens to cover the city, it doesn't matter how many more you have after that. Maybe less food used gets you there faster ... but I can't yet think of how it should limit max production.

Hmm.. I have several cities in the game I'm currently working on that are at that level or above. I've got at least one that is 100+. (It's a Prince-level game on the large World map (i.e. Earth) presently in endgame with one remaining opposing civ (out of 3 -- destroyed the other 2 before 2000 BC) with one (well surrounded) city. I'm just trying to maximize the score at present so I can submit it for the HOF (spaceship has been built and is just waiting for optimum time to launch to maximize city growth time).

I wish they would get rid of the Future tech maximum. 255 just is not enough!

Spiff:

I don't think it can be adjusted... I think it is a limitation imposed by the 16-bit architecture of the game... but if anyone has a way to fix that in rules.txt or something please fill me in!

I remember I once had production of 127 shields and it still didnt do bomber in one turn. But that was in old version of Civ II I had, dont know if it still does it. If I remember right I couldnt handle the pollution it made, altough I had everything(hooverdam, masss transit, recycling centre and solar plant).

If you don't have to grow as much food to feed the same population, you can set more squares to production rather than food, like mining a hill rather than irrigating, or planting a forest on a grassland square, etc.

ive had more than that, dont recall exactly how much. how big has everyones science gotten though?

Leo: That's not quite what I meant, but you're still right. I thought if he legitamately had enough citizens to cover every square, so there were no choices, then food and further population wouldn't matter.

But that was before I knew exactly how many squares are in a city. Turns out there are 20 land squares in a city. But Håkan only had 31 food = 15 citizens and 1 settler, in normal mode. That's enough to force choices about what gets worked without going hungry, and makes you correct, Leo. So for his numbers to be legit, he had to have had at least 40 food used, for 20 citizens working every square (again, in normal mode).

Based on this, I'd say Håkan has an unfair advantage in production by having each citizen each only 1 food. Somebody please check my logic on that one. I still could have missed something.
