question about game speed and research length

ive been editing my gamespeed file since no one out there can tell me where to find a longer game speed mod. ive added 600 turns onto the marathon game and i thought i edited my other stats to slow research. this is what i have.

i started out with research speed at 350% but it seemed to be going too fast so i changed it and reloaded my game but there was no effect. when i change the turns, however, it is reflected in the save game so why isnt the research different? how do i write into my xmls to slow research by an additional 25%?

Are you editing the file in the Expansion 2 folder under the DLCs? That is, if you have BNW. If you simply edit the Vanilla files, then the expansion files supersede them and your edits will not go through.

You may be better off creating a mod as updates and patches will remove your changes as well.

im editing the expansion 1 file since i didnt buy BNW yet. not going to unless i can finally get through 1 civ 5 game. i figured out the problem was with an overhaul mod that somehow overwrote the game rules so i deleted that mod.
