Is there an imperialism event for Italy? as in everyone gangs up on Italy?

Because this happened in my game as Italy:

Spoiler :
Dogpiling at it's finest. I've been holding off for a very long time now. My Empire went from Belgrade to Marseilles to Vienna at it's height and Frankfurt was on the verge of flipping to me as well before the out of the blue dogpile from pleased neighbors.

Spoiler :

Let's start like this: Germany spawned, we traded some stuff, Defensive Pact with France kicks in when their Polish vassal gets wiped out by Russians, I did all the fighting. Signed peace with Russians. 3 or so turns later, I still had muskets and longbows, Germans spawned like crazy. They broke every deal I had with them and declared war on me. They had no reason I could think of really. I wasn't able to hold them until Venicia.(2 stacks) Then, when Venecia fell, the Spanish, Turks, Egyptians, Koreans, Japanese, Peruvians, and Russians all declared war on me on the same turn. I had just finished curb stomping the German armies when suddenly, A stack of Ottomans and a stack of Spanish curb stomp my defenses on both sides. I sat here curb stomping wave after wave at Firenze, the city they all demand me to give them, yet they kept coming, only thing that kept me alive was no research and full troop building. France then respawned and I was like "YES!" Then they vassalized themselves to the Germans to join in on the dogpile. After about 150 years of war, the English decided to help me.

No stacks on the map above currently. Note: Just found out the AI Turks have fighters in the 1880s.

I've seen this happen a lot too, and sometimes as soon as the 10 turns immunity is over.

Quick answer : don't trust Germany.

If you are not so strong, everyone picks on you. I've been ganked as Polish many times, until I found the solution: rush Viking - Russia - Holy Rome - Byz....

If you can, burn Frankfurt and hopefully Wien before the spawn, but too late now. I am slightly surprised to see an intact Austria with all of the cultural pressure on them.

As I said, they respawned. Anyways -> Diplomacy 1908:
Spoiler :

It has sort of degenerated into a 3 or 4 sided shooting match I think.

Well, crap. See, that's why I hate playing cultural-oriented-UHV Civs. Culture winds up doing more harm than good to you...

Best I can come up with is holding your ground with lots of artillery and trying to open a front for razing a city or two. I dunno, but best of luck mate...

1950, I've regained the vast majority of my empire and Frankfurt too, forced peace on Spain, Russia, and Turkey.
There is now officially no sides in the brawl. I should totally christen this as "War World".
Reason why I say that: the last war was still not over at all when this new one began.
Spoiler Diplo :

Spoiler People's Republic of Italy :

This is a badass game, keep us updated.

I've never seen such a tangled diplo screen.

Badass is the Ottomans in this game. They built the Apollo Program in 1942.
Spoiler Ottoman Empire :

I've managed to live to 1977 now, and political spectrum for the "Great 8":
4 Communist Dictatorships
2 Empires
2 Capitalist Republics

I find the key with Italy is to acquire all of Italy with 10 turns of spawn. Then pump cats out of Rome and hire every mercenary in sight and attack Libya, continue the push to Egypt, with the GLH and the GL in Alexandria. Next colonize Ethiopia+Americas and stay at 10-12 cities until you hit the Industrial Age. GLH+1 free specialist in every city is a ridiculously powerful combination that lets you tech at an insane rate through the renaissance age.

As for OP's dogpile problem, setting up 2 heavily fortified choke-points at Venice and Genoa really simplifies the logistics of defending. Also, signing DPs with Spain, Russia and/or England will deter France, Germany and the Ottomans from attacking.

You know that RFC/Dawn are set up to give world wars around 1900, right?
World wars started around 1700's man, not 1900's. If it was the 1900's that they had started at, I wouldn't say anything.

Edit: 1769 AD is when the World Wars started.

Final Edit: I finished the game with France and Poland vassalized to me, Germany completely conquered, a good chunk of Anatolia, 3/4 of North Africa, Balkans, Catalonia.

Well the Seven Years War could have been considered a world war, not on the scale of WWI or WWII, but still. It kind of fits the timeline at least.

I've struggled as Italy. I went to war with France for Rome and Austria/Germany for Venice, and despite achieving my objectives fairly quickly I could not force Vienna to sign peace. I missed the wonder and culture production UHVs because I needed to replace frontline losses. If only there were horses available, then it wouldn't have been so bad. But there were none available for trade and there were none in easy reach.
