RFC marathon and Windows 8.1?

Hi!

Just returned to this, installed RFC marathon from here http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=14903 and after clicking it shows the spinning thing a few seconds and then just goes away without any visual output.

I tried loading it via BTS "Load a mod" but no luck.

Anyone else had this problem?
Any ideas what to look for?

Normal RFC seems to work just fine.

Ok, I managed to fix that, but now I got a really strange problem - whenever going into menu it keeps popping up the "loading" background screen with empty loading bar.
By alt-tabbing from and to the game I can get back to the normal menu, but once I do any action (like click on menu item), the empty loading bar is back and I have to alt-tab to see the actual contents I just opened, again.

Ok, I fixed that too. Turns out the program had compatibility settings on for vista sp2..
