I got into civ 5 modding with the intent of making civilizations that play very differently from those present in the main game. As the game's standard gameplay already covers a vast array of countries and cultures, historical nations don't really fit into my project. Consequently, I plan to largely stick to fictional civilizations. I intend my civilizations to be balanced against the standard ones, at least in single player. Hopefully, the plural in the thread's title will soon be justified.

Brotherhood of Steel

A science heavy civilization that has trouble making use of its advanced knowledge.

Leader: John Maxson
UA: Metallic Monks: Cannot build settlers nor annex cities. Massive science output and growth penalty in the capital. Recieves a combat bonus against more advanced civilizations. Steals technologies on city capture. Begins the game with a weaker Paladin.
UU: Paladin (XCOM): A stronger version of the XCOM squad that can't paradrop. Is available much earlier (Nuclear Fission). Paladins acquired before Nuclear Fission are weaker and grow stronger as certain technologies are researched.
UB: Brotherhood Bunker (Palace): Provides 80 science per turn and imposes a 50% growth penalty. Has two scientist specialist slots. Provides a free Bomb Shelter.

Compatibility:
Civ4 Leader Traits, Events and Decisions, JFD's Cultural Diversity, Community Balance Patch
(Events and Decisions is strongly recommended)

Credits:
Code: sagemirael (lots plundered from JFD)
Artwork: sagemirael from Fallout 1 and 3 assets
Music Peace: Metallic Monks (Fallout 1 soundtrack)
Music War: Khans of New California (Fallout 1 soundtrack)

Hey! Welcome to the forums.

Something that may be relevant to your interests is that someone already was working on a Brotherhood of Steel civilization. So yeah, you might have some competition in that respect. Not that there can't be two civilizations representing the same thing, but sometimes collaborations tend to offer better results.

On the fictional civilization front, you're vastly underestimating both the diversity of Civilization in this great world of ours and the creativity of our community.A quick glance around the forums will give you an idea of just how many civilizations that haven't been represented in game could be done and how many new and creative ideas could be thought up for them.

Hope you have fun around here. :)
