SGOTM 12 - One Short Straw

I tried to leave a lot of flexibility so that whoever plays next can direct our stacks where they see fit. Some of the trailing modern armor that can't make it onto boats this turn for a NY attack on T+1 can be used to take out Xian. Don't forget that we can draft 3 units near Chengdu and get them on boats this turn if needed.

9 turns left!!!

EDIT: Most cities are building wealth, but you could crank out several guided missiles this turn to move to NY on T+1 and then attack from NY on T+2.

There is also a pile of gold for upgrades.

I've had a look for missed fall out tiles and I can't find ant. Everything looks good to me.

Turn 250, 1700 AD: Enrico Dandolo (Great Merchant) has been born in Galley City (Gandhi)!

And Gandhi gets another great person from Galley city  That was at least 4 great people from Galley City! Nice gift LC :)

Or maybe he is just rubbing our nose in our failure to get a GM :)

Once NY falls on T+1, which should happen without too much issue, it's just a matter of moving pieces around the board, me thinks. Go get 'em, bcool.

Do you plan to play it out or are you going to play a shorter set?

I'll try to come up with a rough war plan tonight (basically just slight modification of yours) post it tonight.

Then play 3 or 4 turns to end of hostilities with roosy tomorrow. Upload for fallout check and general celebration.

Then finishing cleaning any fallout Sunday/Monday.

If everyone is happy with that plan.

I suppose everyone is against an ICBM in Moscow this turn and nuking New York next turn even though we could have access to uranium now (with a mine build).

Landing it in the NE adj ocean tile would only risk 1 additional tile becoming fallout (roosy's uranium tile).

Please?

I played the factory test game for 20 turns after nuking all of roosy's cities and then 5 more icbms on max land tiles and didn't get any radioactive fallout dust randomly appearing, no global warming, nothing.

We have almost 30 cruise missiles ready to attack on T+1. You can't nuke until T+2. We don't need to nuke. It delays the war. It's an added risk. Why do it other than the fun factor, which isn't really a good reason in my opinion.

Save the game and replay it later with nukes after we've won. ;)

alright, alright no nukes, you conservative scaried cats.

I'll follow Mitchum's plan with small changes
--I'm going to build a few more modern navy ships since I think Roosy will upgrade at least a few ships to destroyers this turn. And roosy destroyers do present a potential threat to the clean up or other unprotected transports.
--I should be able to get a few more modern armor with a transport build in Paris which will bring them the extra tile they need to link up with the transport chain starting in Kamchatka next turn. Which brings them in to fight T+2 (DD+1)
--I plan to upgrade some units in Atlanta plan (move back to Delhi upgrade move out again and they will still be in reach to hit Atlanta)
--I'll bring enough troops to take NY next turn (not exactly sure what they will be. I'm aware of drafting possibility this turn in the area)
--I'll use Ivan the Terrible to give 10 units 2 more xp probably. (hopefully finding a unit to upgrade for free with him too--maybe even a frigate just for fun--even though Mitchum is against me having fun this turn set ;)

--I'll try to take Chicago DD+1 since I can get a submarine in range to hit Chicago with cruise missiles and will have some marines to take Chicago DD+1 left over from NY attack
--I'll probably build a fort in Northern India for better airship positioning.

DD+0
Capture SF (1 rifle) with Stalin marines

Capture LA (2 rifles) with Stalin marines

Capture Xian (2 rifles + sword) with older army that we couldn't afford to upgrade.

Capture Atlanta (3 rifles) with old army, spy and air backup.
- 6 airships
- 2 muskets on galley
- 3 maces (2 on galley and 1 on galleon)
- 2 infantry (slightly wounded)
- 1 knight

Capture NY (12 rifles, 4 knights, 6 trebs, 3 airships (don’t have to kill, right?)
- 22 missiles
- 3 marines in Guangzhou
- 1 marine + 1 tank in Beijing
- 3 marines + 1 infantry in Chengdu
- 1 marine at Guangzhou-2NE
- 1 marine built in Chengdu
- 11 tanks coming from Pigs, GP Farm, Rheims, Bananas, Paris, Orleans, Nottingham, Shanghai, Beijing (2), Guangzhou and Hammer City.
- 6 drafted infantry
These 28 units will need 7 transports –
- 2 transports from Kamchatka
- 1 transport built in Shanghai
- 1 transport built in Chengdu
- 1 galley by Hangzhou (upgraded for 245)
- 1 galleon in Hangzhou (upgraded for 155)
- 1 galleon in Indian Ocean (upgraded for 155)

Drop off stack near Philadelphia (4 rifles + cannon)
- Whatever we can scrounge up and transport in time
DD+1
Take Philadelphia.
Atlanta survivors + some from India mainland to Boston.
Drop off units still in transports from the NY war at Washington /Chicago.
Take Chicago amphibiously (with cruise missile from sub support and healthy marines, maybe a city revolt too)

DD+2
Take Washington and Chicago
Take Boston.

We don't need to take Seattle (we can have one unit protecting 3 workers clearing thee fallout tiles NE of here). Or, the marines from LA/SF could take it.

We don't need to take Hangzhou, but we can later in the war. I prefer to get units into Roosevelt's heartland ASAP. Later built modern armor could take Hangzhou around DD+3.

I'll clean Seattle with workers on route, protect them with marines nearby if necessary.
I'll clean Hangzhou with escorted workers with late arriving units.

I'm going to build a submarine or 2 and you can't stop me!!! (cause it's fun :) ) And submarines equipped with guided missiles can kill a lone destroyer out in the open pretty easily or can be used to support a city take over.

I'll stop end of DD+2 (T+3) to let everyone assess the clean up situation.

I plan to play tomorrow morning in about 12 hours.

Sounds pretty straight forward. Just don't have any fun.

BTW, if you have gold, you can upgrade frigates to destroyers plus the one that is on the way. Or you can build a whole navy in three turns as long as you don't enjoy it! :D

Looking really good. :goodjob:

Fallout check.

The only slightly disconcerting thing is that Churchill, Mao and Gandhi are all still in WHEOOHRN. I guess they can't mess it up for us due to power discrepancy...
