Man, you guys hear about that fire? It came through my parents house about an hour and a half ago. I won't know until tomorrow whether it burned or not.
So the house made it. It sat on a ridge line surrounded on three sides by heavy brush. One part of the fire crept up the canyon on one the SE while another part came from the backside NW. They met at the house and started a firestorm, sucking in the 70 mile per hour gusts and growing the flames to about a hundred feet high. My parents saw it from the next ridge line over and then they got out of there. They told me last night they thought it went up, but no. There was a detached garage about 10 feet off the house which got totally destroyed, but the house didn't catch.
There was a 1000 gallon propane tank some ways down the hill and the fire got to about 20 feet from it on all sides but didn't get to the tank. It was miracle if I ever saw one.
