Hey, if some dude like the CIA Director can control a lot of things in your nation without you knowing, you could probably get someone similar now. You'd just have to give him sufficient power, and a sufficient bureaucracy-maze thing to keep you from being able to do anything about it.

So, what are your plans for Mariko and the Empire at the end of the thread/beginning of the next one anyway?

I don't drink coffee.
Tea? Hot chocolate? Sugary fruit juice?

This.

It's gotta start from the inside. Mariko can do whatever the #&$@ she wants, but I highly doubt any of us are gonna give two shakes for her law.

I'd rather not do the whole CIA esque scenario again. I'm even very hesitant to have the ball in my faction's court because it makes them look like the bad guy and I don't want the Republic to be the bad guy :(.

It's not her law anyway. Is just part of her scheme to off me.

All I gotta say is, DERP (or whoever) passes DERPA (DNS-based Entertainment Rights Prevention Act).

Actually, I believe it just makes your faction a victim of a swindling truce. Being fooled doesn't make your faction a bad guy. :)

She's still going to be my archnemisis, but with a new thread, would give me a chance to further develop her character instead of being seen as a one dimensional villan. I had plans for the Republic and the Empire fight in an offscreen war while my story solely focus on me and my party.

I'm just going to keep my focus on the protagonists than the space mercenaries as a whole. It's about the job more than internal politics anyway. Of course, this may run into problems with Talon Bounty hunters... Or maybe there are financial problems to pay off officials so the orgaisation can keep using the Internet without being assassinated.

And that's why I'm always away on missions (not just to avoid Ross Ray), making Delia and her brother the primary focus of the story on my end...

By the way guys... Vote!

Wait, how far away from the Hacker Crisis are we going? Since I had in mind with the plot proposal that it's a few months after the defeat of the hacker .

If Delia and her brother appears, it would mean Nozomi would show up sometime in the story...

Damn it, who broke the Timey-Whimy Ball?! :run:

Dare I say TK's given us our opening comic?

No, no, no, no that's only a trailer. I can do better than that!

Basic premise of a hypothetical OP (as imagined by me): the Hacker Crisis intensifies the existing calls for more controls over the internet ; governments around the known universe spontaneously enact draconian legislations, often without due process (so, as one possible solution to the Evil Coruscantis impasse, the Coruscanti Government may pass the law under pressure from Shadowy Forces without consulting CivG and the first thing our heroes know about it would be hearing about it on the evening news).

Suddenly, CFC itself gets closed down on copyrights violation pretext, and its moderators and regular posters are arrested. Those who can flee enter into a dangerous world of competing interests, and must uncover THE TRUTH behind the conspiracy... (I'd rather not have the Iranians as the bad guys again. It's too cliched.)

Given that the Republic of Coruscant does not want any part of the censorship of the Internets. It would have to involve on some part of the tempter who aligns him/herself with both Mariko (My archenemy) and the shadowy organization (By default, Mariko would secretly ally herself to this shadowy organization since she sees it an ally of opportunity).

Ah, but the idea is that DERP (Democratic E-Republic of Pooistan) isn't a shadowy organisation. It is a country. And it would be very weird for them to censor the internet, almost as weird as China passing laws that enable free speech. That way we can avoid Coruscant becoming a bad guy as there is another, formerly off-screen superpower that passes the laws, the Russia to their US. Coruscant wouldn't have anything to do with the laws and they wouldn't have to enforce them, however they can't stop DERP harassing their citizens with bounty hunters.

I don't want DERP being a shadowy organisation though. I have my own ideas for shadowy organisation. :p

That'd work. A big part of my plans for DYOS XII involve a new FWA leader who would do just that kind of thing and is supposed to be antagonistic anyway. (Not a repeat of Neo-Britain, though - it's just the cabinet, not the whole FWA that's going evil.)

Ohhhh yes, you'd mentioned...

heheh...

HAhahaha..!

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!*SNORK*

That would work. Though he would have to be working with an evil shadowy organisation(s) though.

Heck, we could just have all our factions turn on us simultaneously to pass this. :p

Well the Blood Gulch Mercenaries are in the hands of the nefarious Chairman...

I could always not have ownership of the company back to me for the next DYOS and be a stranger to my own company.

Good News, Everyone!

So, I've had this newish computer for several months now, but never bothered to actually try using it for comics, because kill fire's always on it and I didn't think it was enough better than my other two to not crash constantly.

Well, I've discovered that no, it doesn't. Whether that's because this computer is better or some addon or something is screwing with the other two like CG originally suggested is something I don't know, but it works, and it means I can make comics.

Also Good News: kill fire has adopted a sleep schedule of sleeping seemingly at random, often at completely ridiculous times, and I'm not sure what the logic behind when he chooses to sleep is- but it does mean that he's not awake at the same time as me as often as he usually is, which increases my chances of using this computer, and thus, making comics.

Like what happened to the avatar wars?

I'm thinking for my situation it would be the call back to the Prohibition of the 1920s, IN THE INFORMATION AGE (and SPACE!)!!! Cyber Speakeasies for all!!

Well I was just notified by the guys in the Random Rants thread about Imageshack's latest policy of having 500 free images hosted. By March 1st, all of my older comics will be deleted :(.
