I've posted some of their news articles before, but maybe it's good to have a combined thread for them.
The website https://turnbasedlovers.com does reviews and general articles about turn-based games, so I guess we should once-in-a-while have a look over there ;).

New article today:

TurnBasedLovers: 10 Intriguing Turn-Based RPGs & Strategy Games

TurnBasedLovers have again published a new article (together with a video) about some of the most interesting games for 2022. The list includes this time mostly RPGs, but there are also 2 games potentially of interest for us CivFanatics:

  • Dominus, which is a turn-based multiplayer empire-management game. Right now it looks heavy on battles, but the battles definitely look better for a video. So we’ll see when it’s released how much inspiration from Civ they took
  • Citizens, a turn-based city builder. It also includes puzzle-elements, a campaign, and a demo is also available, for everyone who is interested.
Read the whole article at TurnBasedLovers here.

The video for May has Old World in it, so already worth a watch.
The 2 most interesting games otherwise on this list are "Magna Graecia", which seems to be a builder like Dorfromantik, but in an ancient Greek setting, and Song of Conquest, which is a strategy game similar to Heroes of Might and Magic.
Others could be interesting too, but are very much non-civ themed.

EDIT: The article itself is here https://turnbasedlovers.com/lists/may-2022-rpgs-strategy-games-releases/

TurnBasedLovers, a website which obviously deals with our favourite type of game, has released another overview what they deem to be the best current turn based games for 2022.

Old World is probably already well known among the civ-fanatics, and is described as the following:

Created by 4X veterans, Old World is the perfect blend of Civilization and Crusader Kings. Not only will you need to grow your Bronze Age empire from a single settler to a thriving polity, but you’ll need to also keep the noble families happy and ensure the succession of the royal line. The characters you choose to govern your cities and lead your armies will have a profound impact on the game, so choose wisely!

The sci-fi strategy game “Cantata“, as well as the Heroes-of-Might-and-Magic inspired “Songs Of Conquest” are probably also worth a look for strategy gamers like us.

You can find the whole list here.

TurnBasedLovers has published another article/video, which is interesting to the CFC community, called "10 Indie Gems You Don’t want to Miss -Twitter’s Lair Top Picks #2". The name doesn't give it away that it's interesting for us, but the list contains a range of games, which you definitely should have a look at. One of them is "Yield", a turn-based 4X game on a hex-grid with a really cute graphics style, which allows you to destroy Rome with the Germanic hordes. Another one is "Feudums", which is a medieval strategy simulator, and can already be tested with a free demo. The last game of interest is "Imperial Ambitions", which is a 4X game in the "Colonization" setting, using very nice and charming pixel art. Users with a preference for a sci-fi setting over a historical one should also have a look at "Silence Of The Siren".

You can read the whole article (with another 6 turn-based games in it) here.

TurnBasedLovers has published another article/video, which is interesting to the CFC community, called "Top 20 Modern Turn-Based Strategy Games to Play in 2023". The authors have made a list of interesting turn-based games from the last year, with no particular order in them, but all interesting.
For the 4X fans among us, there is plenty of fodder, as they mention Old World, Master Of Magic, the coming Galactic Civilizations IV, Myriads: Renaissance and Revival: Recolonization, and they are all worth checking out. For more tactical and other types of games you also have your choice from the article.
There is definitely not game shortage until Civ7 arrives!

You can read the whole article here.

Another video has been posted, this time about the top games from September (together with the article on which the video is based, see here). It mostly features RPGs though, with only 1 strategy game in there, called "These Doomed Island", a survival city builder.

TurnBasedLovers has released another article called "Top 10 Turn-Based Strategy Games Of 2023".
The list includes obvious candidates like Galactic Civilizations 4 and the latest entry in the Spellforce series, but also more hidden games like Revival: Recolonization, Victoria 3 or Masters of Magic. And it features Battle Of Wesnoth, one of the best open source games out there. Have a look at the article if you agree with them, of if you have another personal favourite from last year!
