Greece. Greece appears to have a very powerful set of early game UUs.

The early game has been a key to all previous Civ games so I want to conquer other nearby civs early on, get them suppressed, and under control.

Maybe I can conquer all or a large part of the continent Greece is on, setting me up for the endgame.

My personal experience is that Civ is a whole lot more fun to play when you're the big guy on the continent.

India - Gandhi won many a game for me on Civ4. I'll be giving him my first run in his honour!

Then closely followed up by a game as Alexander for those awesome units XOVERX mentioned. Then Nobunaga of Japan - Bushido really intrigues me, and I never used to like playing as Tokugawa - maybe this time will be different!

I'm just sliding slowly into depression that I have to wait until Friday!

England....actualy,I think that I would play with Russia, but the new Catherine is not awesome like the old one,The music is not awesome like the old one...But new Russia is cool as the old one

On Civ IV I always played Vikings, But they aren't in 5 :(

Rome or Babylon... can't really decide :)
I like the ancient Civs more than the modern ones in general... seems awkward moving around "Berlin" or "New York" while wearing rags and spears without a fallout storyline ^^

Iroquois. It'll be good to recover the only missing segment of my heritage.

Besides, my favorite civ, Carthage, isn't in Civ V.

Vikings but since they are not included in main game I will pick Rome.

America, not so much because I want to win my first game, but because I want to experience all of the new features from start to end, to basically play a 'normal' game. And America seems like one of the best balanced civs over the long term, so I thought they would be interesting. And I'm American =D

I choose Germany as my traditional starter civilization since Civ3 so I do the same in CV. The iron cross cool as hell.

The next might be Greece, thier UU and UA is very all around can support both peace and war strategy. I like to be vertasile.

That's what I was thinking (with regards to Greece). Their unique units have the potential to dominate early combat. Let's hope they're as good culturally as they were in Civ4. Also, Hellenic League looks like it could be really strong. As I'm really excited about City States, Greece is definitely a good bet for starting off!

I am an American, but I've never had much interest in the American civ in any previous games. However, this time around, it may be the first one I try. Its special ability seems to be the most neutral among the civs, meaning it doesn't seem to push you too much toward war/peace, city states, science/gold, etc. If there was a civ with no special abilities/unique units, I think I would actually use it for my first game.

I think I will probably end up playing whole games with each civ this time around, which is something I couldn't say for any other game of Civ. Almost all the special abilities sound really fun.

I will be playing Rome first as I want to see how powerful their Unique Ability actually is. Then I might go to either Germany, America or Babylon. Either way, can't wait till tomorrow!

I'm going straight into multiplayer with some friends immediately and we're still debating. My personal choices are either Arabia, England, Russia (maybe India). They are thinking Rome/China and some others.
