Wonder Movies

Does anyone else think the absence of wonder movies was a cheap time saving device by Firaxis who clearly didn't want to go to the trouble of producing them?

The reason given that they didn't wish to take us out of the marvellous world of Civ3 isn't really believable as you could always disable them, and in any case they retained the 'buil your own palace' feature which does exactly that.

I for one would want them reinstated in any future version of the game.

Here's a strategy that lets you have some wonder movies in civ 3.

When you complete a wonder (eg The Pyramids) insert your civ 2 cd. Then double click on the avi file corresponding to the wonder you have just built. You will get a wonder movie!

Personally I think money making wonder movies that you view once and never again is money pretty poorly spent when developing a game ...
