By the way, a modified version of MGE Civ2Mult from the author @duplj (which allows you to create similar maps of size 65522, as well as create random maps of the same size; the gameplay has also been greatly improved and refined in various parts of the game) since the day before yesterday it has been available to everyone on the Rutreker website (search on Civ2Mult or Civilization II). The version has been tested for AI interaction with super-giant maps. The AI is quite efficient.
Most likely, the laws of your country do not allow the use of this site (check this yourself before using the site), so the decision whether to download something from this site is up to you. Mod, as well as map editor, in Russian. There are enough Russian-speaking players on this site (not only from Russia, but also from other countries), so I think this version will be interesting to them. Also, I am sure that for an experienced player who does not speak Russian, it will not be difficult to understand this version (since it is still the well-known MGE, with additions). Maybe in the future there will be enthusiasts who will translate it version into English.
