Xcom

I've always been a fan of old games, and I just tried Xcom for the first time. It seems pretty cool, but the problem is: I suck. Specifically, when I'm directing my soldiers attacking aliens: I always get them all killed and lose the airplane, and my reputation goes down the tubes. Any suggestions?

Whew, it's been a long time since I've played X-com.....

I remember that you need to keep your troops close to each other, but somewhat spread out (so they don't get hit by stray shots). And early on always have them crouch behind something to end their movement so they are harder to hit. I also remember constantly flanking the aliens I found with one or two guys that had good accuracy. Get them to a place that they could see the alien and pop off a shot.

I really liked that game because it had some good variety to it and I really liked the Line-of-Sight feature of it.

I never got into the expansion packs or sequeals though.

X-com terror from the deep 4 me was the best of the series...It had to be the scariest and toughest game I´ve played and enjoyed!

Jacqueline Marcelles was my HEROINE! but she died...

X-com Terror from the Deep was really a revolution of it's time. It should have been continued. It was so moody, I remember plugging my comp to the audio speakers and turning off the light... And I really did jump to the sound of Aliens closing on my people. With such a simple graphics it was so fascinating.

But these were the times, when gaming was about gaming not some kind of fancy flash-bang 3D with un-user un-friendly interface.
