ZOMG - chess?!

Wait nvm, civ 5 really is somewhat like chess.
 
Ranged/siege units = Knights
Infantry = pawns
Mounted/helicopters = bishops/rooks

Of course, the major break-away between the two is that in Chess you move only one of many units a turn. In Civ5 you can move all your units.
 
that would be way more tactical, let the CIV play one unit, after the other, you, ai,ai,ai,ai, you ,ai, ai, ai ai, you, etc.etc.etc.
Aldo, that would become painfully boring too....hahaha

Anyway, aldo there are many types of units in CIV, most come down to to a few types of "skill".
Spear/sword/inf = melee
arch/cat etc = ranged
Cav/tank = attack forces

So it ain't too hard to work out move/battle mechanics for each "category".
 
It has been a long time since I programmed AI but to me one of the issues with ciV is the 1upt causes blocks of units to develop which is actually the hardest thing for a computer to analyse. To beat chess computers people play in blocky patterns they wouldn't choose against a human.
 
my interpretation (take it for what it is): he hates chess because he does not understand it, yet he wants to feel "special" because "he plays civilization", so he combines all of it into a strange rant-salad.

Only effect: giving an impression of his mind with two sentences. ;)
