SGOTM 15 - One Short Straw

OK. I'll heal two turns where I am. I'm only worried about missing a chance to steal a worker, but 2E of the warrior looks like a forested hill so the odds of a worker being there are very low.

Or a panther could catch us in the open... Gamble either way, right? Or do panthers only spawn in the jungle?

Panthers only spawn in jungle, which should be some 15 tiles north of here.

While you play, I'll run a quick test to see if AggressiveAI escorts its first worker. If it does, then our warrior might as well bugger off and explore.

edit: it doesn't.

OK. I'm done through the start of T18. Our warrior is fully healed. Should I move him to the forest 1 NE before uploading?

ZPV, do animals avoid going on the tiles next to cultural borders? (I think you've answered this before, but...sorry...)

I also forgot to save one turn but I have the autosaves... I forget if auto save is the end of the turn or the beginning of the turn. I'll include both just in case.

Yes (except to attack, of course), and that includes diagonally next to, as well as sharing a side.

Warrior 1 moved. Warrior 2 moved to the hill (edit: not yet but soon) just so that we have more to discuss regarding gems. I'll upload the save in a minute.

LC, you're up.

I would prefer for Mitchum to stop playing at 21/22f, that is, T18 3280BC for testing and discussion. What I see is that the 4f in the food bin grow us to pop3 1t sooner, which gives us some hammers back, but more important the extra couple coins give us a chance to get TW done a turn sooner. That turn doesn't speed up the settler, but it gets the second road done and potentially connects our Gems city, depending on where we decide to settle it. That worker would anyway have to road 1 more turn before starting the gems mine, because it's 3 tiles away.

Growing to pop3 a turn earlier makes up 3 of the hammers, and presumably growing to pop4 (eventually) a turn earlier will have the same effect. Not to mention the extra beakers in an early tech.
We'll still need to pause for thought, but suddenly this makes more sense to me.

Can I thread jack this for a sec?

Besides the buffy mod and full patch what else do i need to do to a new install to be compliant?

It's just patch 3.19 and the latest version of BUFFY, I think.
There's a page on the HOF website about fixes to make it run on Vista/Win7 - you'll need to change some file permissions and run the game as an administrator if you use one of those operating systems.

If you can open the save (or any recent BOTM) without the game yelling at you, you're good to go.
