[BTS] SGOTM 26 - Home Slices

We captured a worker and a settler in Vienna. I plan to delete them at the end of this turn. I think we should also delete a few of our muskets to reduce unit and maintenance costs. Do we need more than 3 muskets moved from HRE back to SB? Any reason to keep them? Do we need to keep our power level high for any reason (e.g. to prevent a red first and an AI plotting against us)?

We currently have the following:

Bismarck: +13 total with +3 mutual military
Sal: +11 total with +4 mutual military
Louis: +10 total with +2 mutual military

Should we sick Bismarck on SB right now? The cost is 555:gold: so we could easily do it for MT, Constitution, Chemistry or Physics.

Don't we have an excess of cash for only 12 turns left to play? Are we still building wealth?
Yes, we are building Wealth in Science (WP this turn since the two chops landed) and Silver. We were building Wealth in Cows to slightly delay the :yuck: from the factory but I just started the factory this turn.

With Science (and Cows) not building Wealth, we are at -164:gold:/turn with 1591 in the bank. That will go to -142 next turn when Science starts building Wealth again. I don't think we have excess at this point.

Any thoughts on deleting Muskets or keeping them? This away army is costing us. We're currently paying 2 for unit costs and 5 for unit supply (11 units). It feels like we should delete 4 or 6 of our 9 Muskets down by HRE + the 2 workers.

Our :strength: is 0.8 of Peter's and 0.7 of Bismarcks.

We don't have enough EPs on Louis or Sal to see where we stand with them but Sal just took a huge hit trying to take Vienna.

I just deleted the two workers we captured in Vienna and now we're paying 0 unit cost and 4 unit supply (9 units).

Maybe we should hang onto our army as a small deterrent against a red fist in the next few turns before we can dog pile SB.

Good progress Mitchum! :D

Yes, we must now carefully calculate if we can really be finished teching by T220.
That is 9 turns from now.

I think Science City will have to switch to building :science: right now while we rely on West Point fail gold.

Because we just finished Industrialism, it's hard to tell exactly how many OF beakers we have. Should I play one more turn? Then we'll also know what happens with SB's 3 triremes and whether we have to temporarily CF.

Because we just finished Industrialism, it's hard to tell exactly how many OF beakers we have. Should I play one more turn? Then we'll also know what happens with SB's 3 triremes and whether we have to temporarily CF.
It should be straightforward to calculate right now since you recorded the :science: we got each turn. :)
Looks like we have 24930:science: left to tech by the turn of the victory vote.

Currently doing 1323:science: per turn with our slider (gets a x1.2 multiplier due to knowing the tech pre-reqs)
To finish teching by T218, we need to average 1598:science: per turn with our slider over the next 13 turns.
To finish teching by T219, we need to average 1484:science: per turn with our slider over the next 14 turns
To finish teching by T220, we need to average 1385:science: per turn with our slider over the next 15 turns.

Need to bump up our research 62:science: per turn somehow.
Maybe put some capital chops into West Point, then complete West Point early and cash in the :gold: (Cow City put some :hammers: into West Point for 1 turn in my turnset)
Use that to edge up our :science: per turn somehow.

Realistically, we will be done teching by T220 and WIN on T221 as long predicted by WastinTime :)

Here are a few T205 Real Game Screenshots

Turnset Report - T205 to T211

T205
Cancel Whale to Peter for 3 gpt. Peter went from having 2 gpt on the table to 0 so now we can't get our 3 gpt back. I'll watch for it to go back up.
Renegotiate Fur to Louis for 1 gpt.
Delete warrior garrison in Science. Save 1 gpt.
Delete caravel at Cows-3W1N. Save another 1 gpt.
Save Galley 2 just in case there is an emergency need to shuttle workers.

+1353:science:
1705:gold: @ -110:gold:/turn

T206
We get 56:gold: for Sistine in Cows.
Peter has 70:gold: for trade.
Sal has a stack of Maces, HAs, xbows and chariots approaching Vienna (no siege).
Our galleon runs into a stack of 2 HRE triremes on its way to Fur Island to pillage the crabs. He should survive.
Delete Chariot near Prague to save 2:gold:/turn.

+1353:science:
1651:gold: @ -110:gold:/turn

T207
Our galleon defends against two of HRE's triremes. Still has 4:strength: too.
Pillage crab nets for 7:gold:. Galleon seeks deeper waters.
Bismarck has a caravel south of Clams and could meet SB in 2 turns.
Peter is down to 50:gold: for trade. Still no :gold:/turn from him.
Trade Communism to Bismarck for Free Market, 40:gold: and map.
Cahokia spy is at -40 EP cost and still cannot steal treasury.
HRE has 3 promoted LBs and a sword in Vienna; Sal has 2 maces, 5 HAs, 2 xbows, 2 chariots and 1 LB at the city gates. Bismark has 2 knights within striking distance if Sal attacks next turn, weakens the defenders. If Biz follows Sal, it's possible that Vienna goes down next turn.

+1366:science:
1588:gold: @ -113:gold:/turn

T208
Peter asks to trade Divine Right for GP +145:gold:. Nope!
SB and Bismarck have met. Biz is +3 pleased with SB.
Sal takes a run at Vienna and fails. There are two wounded LBs and a wounded Sword. Our first attack is at 74.28% odds and we have 7 Muskets ready to go. Do we want to take HRE off the board now? Pausing for discussion.

Continuing the attack on Vienna:
Spy performs Counter Espionage mission to get a free ride home (100% success) - no chance to remove walls.
C3 cover Musket attacks at 74.28% odds... wins.
C2 Musket attacks at 86.47% odds... wins.
C2 Cover Musket attacks at 98.51% odds... wins.
We get 116:gold: and HRE has been taken off the board.
Both outside-BFC chops have completed in Science so I put 178:hammers: into WP.
SB Spy still can't steal treasury. We have 168:espionage: and add +18 each turn. How many EPs do we think we need?
Deleting the two workers we captured in Vienna save 4:gold:/turn.
Peter will have Astronomy in 2 turns.
Trade Constitution to Bismarck for war with SB and map.
I decide to hang onto our Muskets for now (we'd only save 1 gpt for every 2 we delete).

Bismarck: +13 total with +3 mutual military
Sal: +11 total with +4 mutual military
Louis: +10 total with +2 mutual military

+1361:science:
1591:gold: @ -160:gold:/turn

T209
A forest grows at Science-SW. We can send workers there after the Cows forest chops into WP.
Sal adopts Caste System.
Pillage crab nets south of Vienna for 5:gold:.
Vanna White and Heretic move to the new forest at Science-SW instead of their planned duties to speed up the Forest Preserve.

Bismarck: +14 total with +4 mutual military
Sal: +11 total with +4 mutual military
Louis: +10 total with +2 mutual military

+1361:science:
1436:gold: @ -138:gold:/turn

T110
Peter learns Democracy.
SB Spy still cannot steal treasury at 204 EPs.
Cows switches to WP to capture 5 outer chops for 54:hammers: base. Total of 203:hammers: going into WP this turn.

Bismarck: +14 total with +4 mutual military
Sal: +11 total with +4 mutual military
Louis: +10 total with +2 mutual military

+1361:science:
1298:gold: @ -140:gold:/turn

T111
Industrialism learned, set research to Refrigeration. We have aluminum everywhere but only one is mined in Clams.
UN will be done in 2 turns.
SB moves three triremes toward our caravel and trireme (our Caravel had gone to pick up the spy for one turn, hope that doesn't cost us). Trireme could be upgraded for 50:gold:.
Stopping and uploading so we can assess the UN situation.
Let's see
T205 - 1.2*(1353+1) = 1624
T206 - 1.2*(1353+1) = 1624
T207 - 1.2*(1366+1) = 1640
T208 - 1.2*(1361+1) = 1634
T209 - 1.2*(1361+1) = 1634
T210 - 1.2*(1361+1) = 1634

1624*2 + 1640 + 1634*3 = 9780:science:

We started T205 at 1590/10140:science: in Industrialism.
1590 + 9780 = 11370, so we have 1230:science: overflow with the 1.2 multiplier already factored into it.

Refrigeration is 6240:science:
Superconductors is 10140:science:
16380:science: to go minus our overflow of 1230:science: leaves 15150:science: that we must generate in 9 turns.
Divide by 1.2 and we now need 15150/1.2 = 12625:science: RAW, or 1403:science: each turn from our slider to get done in 9 turns.

Or 1402:science: each turn technically because of the free +1:science: we secretly get.

T220 looks like a stretch for sure. Even if we build Research wherever we can and somehow find the gold we need, I'm not sure we can make up the shortage. We were looking for 1385:science:/turn and ended up at 1360:science:/turn on average. Some cities are depleting their food and will have to fire a scientist or two to prevent starvation.

If we fall short on research, we push our victory date out by 5 turns due to the UN voting cycle. Should we target T221 instead?

I still think we can stretch and make it.

A forest has grown 1SE of our capital.
A preserve there and we permanently gain +20:science: per turn.

Science City and Silver switches to build Research, and we gain another +25:science: per turn for -25:wealth: per turn.

That pushes us to 1406:science: per turn.

If we want the win screen on T221, then technically Clam City can build Research for 3 turns and give us a one time boost of +168:science:.

That should help pay for Cow City losing 2 scientists on T215.

All our cities can start starving T216 if they have any food to run more scientists.

We can start selling all our tech right now to all AI.
We no longer have to worry about Privateers.

We will gain +449:gold: when we chop West Point complete.

If that forest had not grown in our capital BFC, I would have had large doubts.

The forest preserve won't be done for 3ish turns which will cost us 60:science: (i.e. we don't get your +20:science: right away). It's doable but it will be very tight. I don't think we have to overly stress about population because we should get all but SB to vote for us so if we have to starve pop down the stretch we should still win the vote.

So much for a leisurely stroll to the end. haha
