Modern Worker Units Jan 4 2007

Isn't there a rule somewhere saying that if you don't give all the workers job to a unit, the AI can't use it?
So if you make a firetruck to clean pollution, it may be used to harvest to

Great! One thing though: don't these animations loop? I see some of them (for example Build Fortress or Clear Jungle) jump at the beginning when the animation is finished, which is normal, but does this happen in game? I could have sworn that these anims loop. :)

It's fantastic to see a new worker available, the amount of animations you need for a worker is daunting, and it's good to see someone taking it on.

One note on the irrigate/clear pollution issue - if a unit does not have all the terraform functions checked (including both irrigate and clear pollution) then it cannot be flagged with the AI strategy 'terraform'. Could be a problem in the future.

Maybe you can do a futuristic worker using the Aliens Power Loader model.
And that is one cool idea. I second that request. :D

Judging by the 3 year old thread what was recently brought back to life, I had been planning on doing this for a very very long time. I just didn't have the right models, time or skill to actually sit down and do it. Things just kept getting in the way and it wasn't that important to me. I had planned on making a combat engineer for SOE too but I never got around to it. I have dozens of civil units like these so it took a while to decide what each job would entail. It took just as long to seperate and arrange some of the models to the pistons and hydraulics would all line up when the cranes would move.

This unit was always, always in the back of my mind to do. I was just beside myself with annoyance when someone resurrected a 3 year dead thread asking about it. It reminded me very much about how my parents would treat me : "remind" me to do something just a moment before I was about to do it, so that it didn't look like I had thought about it for myself. Absolutely hated when they did it, the same applies to here. That is why I wrote that little spoiler tag. Hell. I had planned on doing this a few months ago for a Unit of the Month entry.
