    [MOD] The Authentic Colonization (TAC)

Just played my first games with TAC and would like to congratulate the authors to an awesome mod package! :goodjob: I have been playing Civ4 for several years now (Monarch), had dabbled a bit in the original Colonization while I was young, and got Civ4Col in a steam sale last year. All...

Nobles' Club XCV: Frederick of Germany

Signing in for Monarch Epic with BAT mod. Quick question: I started a scenario from the Monarch Huts game. On the civ select screen, I can choose my speed and difficulty (Monarch) but all the AIs stay on "Noble" level. Working as intended?

    Units you skip altogether...

Space-loving turtle here. :D Often go entire games without mounted units, except for a token few to counter AI stacks full of siege. Chariots occasionally as barb police, HA, Knight, Cavalry at most 2-3 per game, Cuirassier usually 0. The exception being War Elephants for elepult wars, ofc...

    First cities

I've experienced recent improvements of my early game by following B and C (Monarch/Emperor). One city as future production powerhouse (food resource + hills) and one city as science/commerce city (food resource, green land) helping fund the further expansion. One should ideally also capture a...

    Foundation and Empire #2

Although IMO this is leading back to city specialization... Two corn+plains => production city candidate (w/ hills). Or at least worker/settler spam/whip factory, freeing the capital to grow and the hammer city to make military units. (This kind of city specialization helped my early game...

When Should You get Your First Worker?

How does game speed affect the general rule? Workers are a bit cheaper on Marathon (as any unit except Settler), aren't they? Depending on the resources in your capital's BFC and your starting techs you might end up with a good number of idle worker turns...

How to use ALL of my gold for science slider?

It even works with a standard empire - Caste System ASAP, have one city churn out GMs throughout the game, settle them in the same city, build market/grocer/bank/wall street and run 7 merchant specialists till the end of time there. Corps, Philo, Org, Versailles, State Property, The religion...

    Too many buildings?

Creative guys do not need Monuments either - Charismatic guys might still build a Monument for a happy face. Monasteries allow building Missionaries even after they become obsolete - and after Free Religion each religion in a city equals a happy face (and a second one with Temple). I usually aim...

    Too many buildings?

What I found helpful is starting with a "Hybrid Economy" (see article in the War Academy). Without dabbling too much into the finer details (thats what that article is for) it has several advantages for the learner (like I still am one): - The major aim is to run the science slider at 100%...
