    Civilization III and Linux

I never managed to get Civ3 to install under Wine, but did manage it with Cedega. However, because of my graphics card, I had to use an older Cedega engine. I've had a couple of problems. Firstly, I can't see the lines on the diplomatic advisor screen, so there's no way to tell who's at war with...

    AI using armies

In my current game (Vanilla, v1.29f), I've seen two AI-controlled armies in play. First, the Romans had an army consisting of three knights, and now the Japanese have an army with three cavalry. I've never seen this before, and had been led to believe that the AI doesn't ever build armies. So...

    Disappearance of Resource

Neither have any effect. Like anything random, it varies. You can go an entire game without losing a resource, and then in another game it happens half a dozen times. I once had a resource disappear and then reappear on the same tile.

    Do you build factories?

Same here, I build them in my decently producing cities, as in low production cities they're rarely worth it.By the end of the game I usually have a dozen cities which can produce over 50 shields per turn, so I don't need as much cash. Maybe I should start aiming for quick games rather than...

Do you use nuclear missiles in CivII?

My games rarely see nukes even built. But that's because Manhattan only gets built when my spaceship has alreay been launched and the AI has been reduced to a single city. Far easier to stop it being built than to have nukes used against you, However, back in the days when I wasn't so easily...

The 4 rules of Wonder addiction

For a 20K (single city) cultural victory, they're essential no matter what level you're playing on. For a 100K (whole civ) cultural victory you get more culture out of building lots of cities with temples, libraries etc. than by diverting resources into building wonders.

    Do you use catapults?

But the poem was using the word "cannon" to refer to multiple "big guns". I've seen that use quite a lot. And the Oxford English Dictionary supports using the word cannon as its own plural.

I've had it happen where it reappeared on the same square, but only once. Should've taken a screenshot.

But Communism has a lot less corruption than Monarchy.

most popular strategy for monarch warmongering

Another good game to follow for Monarch strategies is GK2 - The Training Day Experiment. It is very long, and may take some time to read through, but it explains how and why they do everything.

yipee, first win on regent, the stratagy i used:

I would advocate building both settler factories and worker factories. You need more shields to produce settlers than workers, so set aside a couple of high food, low shield cities to build workers during your expansion phase, and switch your settler factories to worker factories when you've run...

    Military advice requested.

The simple and easy way to find out how much culture the other civs have is to go to the utilities forum and download either Dianthus's Mapstat (part of CRP Suite) or Ainwood's CivAssist.

    How to use plants?

As long as your productive cities are all on the same continent as the Hoover.
