"Patch_174" in Multiplayer Internet Mode

Been trying to play multiplayer internet mode, but each time a pop-up appears stating that i need to install "Patch_174". Following the instructions, the next time it boots up it states again that i need to install the same patch. Assuming its a patch that is only compatible with a PC, how do Mac users now play in this mode?

Welcome to Mac Civ4 land

If patch_174 is the latest patch released for Windows then you are out of luck until Aspyr gets a Mac version 1.74 patch out.

... or you could go to the Windows version and Bootcamp.

Nope! When I asked (at the beginning of July?) they had just started on the patches. Your guess is as good as mine as to how long they will take to convert the code and test it.

just update the networking so we can play on gamespy

Perhaps they are waiting for the next OSX point release? 10.5?
But that cuts out everyone who doesn't instantly run out and buy (insert name of big cat here).

I would very much like to play CIV on gamespy, but Aspyr does not seem to want to support its customers. Can we please please please get a update that fixes just multiplayer internet games? I mean how hard can it be? Enlighten me. Heck I'd pay $5 for it. $10 if you would include DLL support (so PC mods work etc).

Hurry! I'm holding my breath! 1, 2, 3... <fades slowly>

says it fixes several issues... hopefully the OOS on the multiplayer?

Just got another email from Asypr, the Warlords patch will probably be a bit later (no timeframe given). I didn't dare ask about BtS!

Still, CIV multi in two weeks and Warlords Soon&#8482; thereafter is better than the profound silence of the last few months.

So does this mean that Macs will be able to play online, but only with other Macs? Or does it mean I (PC) can play online with my brother (Mac), which would really be great?

yes, Macs and PCs can play via gamespy
or direct IP connection
or email
or pitboss (macs can't host ptbs games)

right now macs can't get on gamespy without the update to synch mac and pc versions

Replace the incorrectly spelled "patcches" with "patches" and the download starts fine.
