it is not dumbed down, it was designed to make online game play quicker. i can get in a game in 2-4 hours where as civ4 take a day. i wake up and have 4 hours so i jump into a random FFA. you wake up and say "i need to be asleep in 12 hours guess i cant play". that may be a slight exaggeration...

i hate this kind of complaint. the game wouldnt be fun if you had to rush to tanks because a tank can over run every other unit and can only be defeated by orther tanks,bombers, and artillery. also who would u rather be. a driver of a tank in a 3 tank squad moving to attack a city or a 9 person...
