The future of Fall from Heaven

Brad is a big fan of FfH and has even posted on these forums. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he'd made Kael some kind of business offer.

    Should Greece become Macedonian empire?

Splintering empires to get more candidates for city states seems unnecessary to me. A compromise would be to have Greek city states appear only when the Greek empire isn't in the game, but that might end up being a bit fiddly.

    The Future of FfH2?

No, he's asking about FfH2 specifically, unless I'm reading that post wrong. In that case, FfH2 has been in feature lock for a while and it's basically bug fixes and AI from here on out.

Thoughts on the port to Civ 5

The whole post is just a bunch of empty apologetics. Are you seriously arguing against the following: 1. That if more time was spent testing a game before release, the number of bugs in the release version would be reduced. 2. That if it was not practical to issue patches after release, more...

    Creating Units

My first thought was that this kind of thing isn't very realistic or historically accurate. Then I realised that combining modern and ancient technologies in weird and wonderful ways has nothing to do with history and that any modern nation could theoretically product these things if they...

Thoughts on the port to Civ 5

Console games traditionally have very few bugs, so it's certainly possible to release games that are essentially bug-free in a reasonable time frame. PC games have this problem because developers skimp on testing so they can release the game earlier, in full knowledge that they can patch it up...

Thoughts on the port to Civ 5

Shush, play along. Yeah, Valkrionn has an advance copy of Civ 5. He doesn't have much time to play it, though, in between all those Duke Nukem Forever marathons.

The future of Fall from Heaven

I have seriously mixed feelings about this, to say the least. FfH2 owes an absolutely massive amount to the Civ 4 game engine (>90% of the code is still Firaxis') and trying to beat Firaxis at their own game seems like it would be a serious uphill struggle. Civ 5 surely has a much, much bigger...

This game looks far away Civ5...

Probably affiliated with stormfront.co.uk. Is there a Mac version? :p Correct, this isn't Civ 5. I don't think anyone ever said it was...

    Svaltafar vs. Ljosafar

This would probably work better most of the time, I think. It would help to solve situations where neither AI civ wants war and the false alarm situation where an AI civ declares on you but doesn't send a stack.

A much better AI than Civ 3?

Lua as scripting in CIV V

Was Lua ever actually confirmed by anyone? I remember reading some guy in an article's comment section claiming that a developer at PAX East had told him they were using Lua, but that's it. There seems to be an awful lot of discussion about Lua if that really is the only source. Who else has...

Thoughts on the port to Civ 5

Agreed, the Civ 4 is excellent compared to previous games in the series. A massive improvement. That doesn't mean I can't still wish for more. ;) Having spent a fair amount of time digging through AI code, I do think that a proper memory, particularly of unit/city positions within the fog of...

    Humans becoming Vassals

    We're talking about Civ 5, aren't we?

Not if the AI is programmed to turn on you once it realises what you're trying to do.

Civ V on iPad: If, when, how much?

One application versus millions. Do you understand how percentages work? If it means I can't do certain things because there's no application available, yes? But you were the one who suggested that compatibility with "most netbook programs" was a major selling point, so it's not up to me to...

Civ V on iPad: If, when, how much?

Are you paid by Apple? Just wondering. You seem to be far too devoted to singing the iPad's praises (and glossing over its faults) to be a neutral party. You also said this: First, most netbooks run Windows, so the iPad is completely incompatible with 99.9% of "netbook" programs. You can only...

Wildmana: Economic warfare via Animal Husbandry and Hunting

This was mentioned in the AI thread. The Civ 4 AI doesn't have any kind of memory of past events, so all of its decisions are based entirely on what it can see at the moment it makes them. If you have an invisible unit roaming around and eating workers, the AI won't even acknowledge its...

    Wildmana 7.6 Development Thread

That the forum software won't let him make a post that's less than 10 characters long. :p

Civ V on iPad: If, when, how much?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't iPad system specs rather puny compared to modern PCs? The specs on Apple's site say it has a 1GHz processor and make no indication that it has more than one core. It doesn't even say how much memory it has, so I assume that's not a selling point.
