Long after the rest of you I have transitioned to BNW from G+K and I am using the Community Patch alone so I'm not sure how much of the difference I'm finding is due to the game itself or the mod. So far, VP is too overwhelming a change to take on. The InfoAddict mod is a big help, as it was in...
Running BNW, I installed the latest complete Community Patch suite with EUI and all dependencies (VP 2.1). But I have discovered that trading is malfunctioning, the trading screen always shows "trade agreement" being offered by both parties. I cannot offer anything or withdraw anything. By...
I stuck with G+K for a very long time for the simplicity of it. Now I have gone to BNW and find it far too easy to win, the AI seems lame, far too passive. The community patch seems like the way to proceed as I think it may help the AI without altering the game almost beyond recognition as VP...
I play G+K and have added InfoAddict as my one and only mod. Now when I retire to end a game, I can no longer access the map that shows the areas taken by each civ over time that was available before under the "replay" heading.
I play G+K and have noticed that when I have a stack of units in a city, the game will not sequence through all of them that have not been used before ending the turn.
For example, I have 8 stealth bombers in a city. Even though I have not indicated that I want get any of them to full health...
I've noticed that in the early game (G+K) the gold I get from placing a work boat on fish accords with what I know about the game. In the late game, however, when I establish a new fishing site I get +19 gold. I can't find any info that explains this very large income from a single fishing site...
I have found that the first unit that gives me any usable AA power is the gatling gun. Playing at the immortal level, the AI always gets to flight before I do and I must have some gatling guns to offer any resistance to great war bombers. Other than the AA gun and mobile Sam that are tailor made...
I've advanced in difficulty up to the immortal level but now am stopped. Though I have no trouble with neighboring civs no matter who they are, I cannot win if there is a civ that is out of reach.
The problem is the remote civ becomes too powerful long before I can reach them to ****** their...
I play regularly as Hiawatha and I have noticed that the forest roads between my cities don't take immediate effect as I'd expect them to. I've verified that I have Wheel technology and that there is forest or jungle in a complete path between cities - yet turns go by without trade routes being...
I've read over several threads about why a civ will be afraid. Some say it depends on nukes, some say only Pacal is prone to be afraid, some say you have to be far ahead militarily.
None of these are true of my current situation. I am playing as Pacal and am in fourth place with Hiawatha way...
I never like to be without some anti-aircraft capability and have noticed that before I reach ballistics where the AA gun is available, I can still do damage to great war bombers and triplanes...but I can't get a handle on how much damage particular units do because the combat info disappears so...
When there is a battle, you get notification of what happens at the top of the screen such as "a Roman mobile SAM damaged your jet fighter" etc.
I like to check these headlines because it gives valuable information on the enemy forces leading to the best way to counter a defense.
The...
I just completed a game in which I went after Bismarck, divided his domain and took his capital (Berlin) and two other cities of his.
But I kept getting notifications that he had completed SS boosters, etc. and checking the victory progress screen showed he was, sure enough, moving right...
Hiawatha has a habit of spamming cities. If he is on my continent, I can deal with him but if he is across the sea, he invariably takes over the distant land long before I am in a position to do anything about it.
Does anyone have a method of dealing with him?
I was fighting Liz tonight and my bombers were getting sacked in one sortie on a city of hers, though they had the promotion that reduces interception damage by 50%. There was no SAM or Mobile SAM in the city or nearby, and no aircraft there either, only a rocket artillery and a Great Admiral...
The ability to hold off city assaults is incredible.
Today I had one city with three civs (Monty, Bismarck and Bodicca) all at war with me at once. Fortunately, my city was on the coast and my population simply migrated to the ocean tiles and kept on bringing in the food.
I had one frigate...
The timing was perfect for the new patch - I was just about to start a new game. However, playing as William, my Sea Beggars no longer capture ships, they simply kill them as would any other ship. Since my whole strategy assumes the capability of my UU, this puts William in a bad way.
Is...
See attached graph of military power.
I was white. I had one powerhouse neighbor (yellow) with another powerful civ on another continent (purple).
Yes, purple won the game, but you can see that lowly white brought down mighty yellow before that happened and without having to build up a huge...
See the attached screen grab. It looks very bad for Rotterdam.
Monty from the left and Cesar from the right are going at each other over my city of Rotterdam. With enemy units three deep, the population of 18 dropped one per turn and reached 4 before the good guys arrived from the north...
My mistake. In the confusion of battle (I'm going to General school soon), I left my citadel unmanned and the AI cavalry rushed in and pillaged it. I won't forget this lesson.
Does anyone know how long it takes a worker to rebuild a citadel? I can't imagine it being possible during war. I had...
