Best superpower civs for the late game

My spicy take on a late game super power civ is Mongolia. If you focus on just taking northern china so you don't collapse you can get a really good tech game going and easily beat Europe to America. Your core area is limited, but you can get a few really solid cities in there.

    1.18 Civilizations - Brainstorming

I haven't seen any convo about Vietnam in this thread. What if they had an ability like the jokey one suggested for the Jewish civ in another thread? Considering they are a classical start they will historically be occupied by the Chinese like 4 times, the mongols (kinda), the French twice, the...

    1.18 Civilizations - Brainstorming

So regarding Swahili I don't think Mombasa is the right start for them considering the city of Kilwa Kisiwani was the capital of the most powerful kingdom in the region until Portugal came into the picture. Merijn's civ I think has a ton of good ideas including the start date of around 950-970...

    Bug Reports and Technical Issues

It seems like something is off with the Thai 3rd Historic Victory condition. 1) The Arabian Peninsula and parts of the Horn of Africa are considered 'South Asia'. Which seems really off to me. 2) What constitutes a foreign colony is also strange. I'll attach images of my current game where no...

[NFP] Tech and Civics Shuffle Mode: your impressions and screenshots

Having a great time so far. I love how important techs can become dead ends where researching them is an opportunity cost. Apprenticeship and Political Philosophy were dead ends for me. Political Philosophy also required Theology as it's prereq. So if I hadn't gotten a religion I might have just...

    [NFP] Maya First Look

For the animation thing. What likely happened is they have reduced staff and budget on the CIV 6 team. They prolly calculated their margins for profit and determined that reusing animations was the most realistic way to get this out the door. Keep in mind while we are gonna buy it all, new...

[NFP] Civilization VI: Possible New Civilizations Thread

Has anyone gotten word about whether the new civs will use R&F/GS mechanics? The Season ticket website seems to state that the new Civs will not. I would be super disappointed if they added a bunch of new civs but couldn't use any of the new game mechanics. That's super limiting to their...

    [GS] Canada Discussion Thread

I can't be the only one who's unhappy they went with 'O Canada' for the theme? It's not a folk song at all. I would have taken Alouette over this.

[GS] Original civs' abilities being updated

This is my thought exactly. I'm really excited for the Grand Canal to finally be acknowledged in a Civ game. Easily one of China's most impressive feats of engineering. It might make all river side cities count as Coastal for the purposes of making Canals. Another idea is that China gets big...

    [Development] Map Suggestions

I decided to give the central Sahara region around lake Chad a bit of love. Historically decently powerful kingdoms arose in this area and right now the map makes that almost impossible. Original: New: Blue denotes areas that are changed to Semi-Desert. Red Denotes areas changed to Plains...

    Shoshone civilization, leader Pocatello

What would be cool is if the Comanche Raiders had promotions to make them actually good at, you know, raiding. Like if they capture a civilian unit they gain a ton a Great General Points. Maybe they should get a pillaging bonus. Even cooler would be to make them have a 1 space ranged attack to...

Brave New World's New Civilizations - REVISED YET AGAIN!

I would rather see Italy as a whole be represented over just Venice which was simply a city for the most part. You've got Florence, Genoa, Pisa, Naples, Venice and Milan that contributed greatly to the prosperity of 14th to 17th century Italy. It wouldn't even be unusual to give the civ the name...

    [Speculation] Italian States/Papal States/Venice

If the Italians are not added it would be a massive waste due to this games focus on both global commerce and Great Artists. The Italian city states were responsible for so much of the renaissance and European Trade. So much of the culture of that period grew out of Italy as well as the wealth...

    Anno Domini

Great mod! Tech progression is very slow, which leads to patches of tech lag. Perhaps lowered tech costs or more tech buildings might fix this. Not enough happiness buildings, which makes it difficult to create a large nation. Wealth focus, Science focus or culture focus should be...

So i made a map and set up 17 spawn points for random civs and yet on five set ups i spawn in the same place despite there being better spots suited for the team im playing. Is that just an over powered spawn?
