    LH - Bush

Hmm, intriguing choices. "Cool", certainly, but historically correct? I think the crusader is as off as the samurai armour I mentioned. The Americans did not take part in the crusades in the time period that Civ categorizes as Middle Ages (from Feudalism to Theory of Gravity) or at all for...

Under Construction: George W. Bush leaderhead (3d - anim - era)

Bush's head is more round. Take him by the ears and spread your arms wide, and he should look a lot more like himself. Heh, the modified text file could be fun if it's done with taste. After all, the LHs in Conquests speak utter nonsense, too. Too much nonsense to get into the feeling (I...

    Civs specific techs...

    Ah, simultaneous posting.

    Civs specific techs...

IMO the tutorial is overly complex. Just create one or more non-era advances (with no effect), make it a prerequisite of the techs you want to be unique to some civilizations, and then give it to the civilizations as a beginning tech . You know you got it right if the tech doesn't appear on the...

Buildings appearing strangely in the city screen

I was just testing my mod and found an unanticipated problem. I've created new buildings and units and given them new graphics. They work perfectly in Civilopedia, the units work fine "in the field", and most work perfectly in the city screen, by which I mean the interactive city screen, not...

    Another idea for mercenaries

Sounds a bit like my Fief/Manor idea. In the mod I'm working on, you can't create knights, but you can give them fiefs (i.e. build the Manor). This costs you a lot, and it is costly to maintain them, but in return you get those yummy Knight units at regular intervals. I don't think the AI...

    XCOM scenario

Hey, thanks guys. Now I'll have to throw that idea into the wastebasket and start recreating Colonization... ;)

    XCOM scenario

So is there a mod/scenario based on the XCOM/UFO computer game XCOM: UFO Defence (in the U.S.A) or UFO: Enemy Unknown (in Europe)? The more I think about it, the more appealing it's starting to look. How would the nations of the Earth cope with the technologically more advanced aliens? The...

    What scenario should I make?

What if the Divine Wind had not sunk the Mongol Fleet heading for Japan? You can use the Sengoku Jidai map and most of the units too! Just add the Mongolians (~Huns?) who come in force and see how the players can come up with an alliance that can stand against the Golden Horde.

    What scenario should I make?

For a bit of fun a "UFO: Enemy Unknown" mod. Or was it supposed to be historical? In that case, I don't know if it fits the category, despite the fact that the XCOM games were quite historical. :) Anybody ever done/thought about doing this, BTW?

    ***Civilopedia Icon/Text Request Thread***

Well, if somebody's keen on doing these and has some spare time, I have a few challenging ones: - Lingua Franca: allows advanced diplomacy (Rights of Passage, Military Alliance, etc.) - Translation Theory: allows Scriptorium (+50% science after any Libraries) - Mercenary Tactics (~underhand...

    Question on Sacrifice

Can Sacrifice be turned off? I'd like to allow the option in the Ancient Times for some civilizations, but turn it off at a point in the future (Middle-Ages).

    Ransoming (Enslavement)

I've been toying with the idea of having knights enslave other knights for ransom by creating a Treasure flag unit, which can be cashed at the nearest city. Unfortunately, the editor doesn't seem to allow the choosing of units that can be Enslaved and those that can't: it only allows me to...

    Reality Check for New Gov'ts

Yeah, well, A is the return of Fundamentalism, so Theocracy was a very good guess (right to the point, actually!). I wanted it to be a good government when you want to "settle down" and retreat into your shell ("Oh, and when is that?", I hear you ask). B is supposed to be a variation of...

    Reality Check for New Gov'ts

Oh, I completely forgot two important things. First of all, Government A has a Rate Cap of 8. Second, I forgot to add the working rate for workers: Government A 100%, Government B 150%. Don't I feel silly now (would've felt a lot sillier if somebody had actually replied).

    Reality Check for New Gov'ts

First of all: this is my first post so no flames allowed. :king: I need a reality check for two governments that I made for my mod, because I know that many of you have a lot more experience with governments and their pros and cons than I (some I've never even tried). I'm trying to be...
