No longer satisfied with current Civ VI experience, looking for advice on what to try next

James, I like playing YnMAMP, enormous, splintered fractal maps, and I change the age of the world to new. I find that I really restart with this map setting. For me, one of the great things about this setting is that I sometimes find perfect, and useful, spots for Golden Gate Bridge and Panama...

[LP] Looking for Julius Caesar with his and Trajan's ability

So I'm making a request for a small mod. I'd love to have Julius Caesar with his Veni Vidi Vici ability and the Trajan'ss Column ability. I've been trying to figure out something, but I can't make heads or tails of the files. The only time I've really modded anything was some text editing in...

How much do you care about scenarios?

I love playing scenarios in Civ II&III. The WWII scenario in the base game of Civ II is an absolute blast, even to this day. I actually prefered historical scenarios over the grand campaign in those games. Civ IV I played some scenarios, as well the grand campaign. Could never love Civ V like I...

Better Disasters mod - does this exist?

In the Steam Workshop, user JNR has a series of mods called JNR's Climate Balance. Check that one out. The only mods I really use from that are the slower global warming mods. There are three of them 1.5x slower, 2x, and 3x. You can use just one, all three, or a combination. I find the 1.5x&3x...

    So...Civ6...How is This Fun?

I have played Civ since Civ 1. I first played that in high school around 1993-1994. My favorite version of Civ is Civ III. If you are in to city builder games, Civ VI should be up your alley. I love exploring and planning out my empire. Civ VI is by far the best game in the series when it comes...

What would your local wonder be?

I looked it up, it's definitely in there. Now I really want to just keep restarting games until I see it. I could use the cheat mod just to pre-check all the maps I guess.

What would your local wonder be?

Really? I've never seen it. That disappoints me.

What kind of Civ player are you?

Mostly the Plague, with a little bit of Dominator and the buff mixed in.

[Vanilla] I don't think I'll ever be able to get into Civ VI.

My recommendation is: unless you are specifically going for a religious victory, ignore religion. It's sad that such a major component of the game can safely be ignored, but it can. Keep track and make sure that another Civ isn't close to a religious victory, but in my experience, the AI seems...

    Autumn 2017 Patch General Discussion

Fair enough. I guess I'd never seen it before. For what it's worth, it was a large map with the default number of city states. Thanks for pointing out that it's not a bug though; I guess I figured they had some formula for this many city states of each kind depending on number of city-states.

    Autumn 2017 Patch General Discussion

I am actually really enjoying the game again. I had to put it away for a few months because of the things the Summer Patch broke. I have not read through the whole thread, and my apologies if this has been discussed, but I just finished a domination game with Frederick and strangely there were...

Does AI build an air force?

I usually play Prince, huge maps, and while I have seen the AI build hangers and aerodrome districts, I have never seen them build airplanes, in a 150 hours of gameplay. Which is sad, because I always loved that aspect of past civ games.

When did you first start playing Civilization?

I started with Civ I as well. I'm ashamed to admit it was a pirated copy. I had no idea it was a pirated copy; indeed, I had no idea what pirating was, but ignorantia legis non excusat. I always thought the questions that occasionally popped up were just to make sure I knew history, or how to...

    New dad

This. I would add that if you want a long session you need to work it out with the wife. Find a way to keep the baby close to you when you have to watch her, and remember that her needs come first, and you'll be fine. Nice thing about Civ is that it's a turn based game so it's easy, if the...

What a Long Strange Trip It's Been (Nostlgia)

I've played every iteration. Though, I have to admit that the first Civ that I played was a pirated copy. I didn't know it it the time though, a friend just brought it over to me and loaded it on my computer. Truth be told, after I found out, I didn't exactly take it off my...

Baba Yetu like them song? Do you want it in Civ V?

Whenever I play a game I always just run this on a continuous loop: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwdnNyySDLI Not really, I used to hate that song when playing EUII, but I know there are people who love it. I liked Baba Yetu. I am also interested in the music choices for CiV. The...

    cd or d/ling?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but-- even if you buy the boxed version, once you have unlocked it on Steam I *believe* you can, in fact, download it from steam without the DVDs anytime after. This is helpful in case you were to lose the DVDs by losing them or scratching them. That being...
