A thing what bother me about the map

You're absolutely right. Civ5 has FOW implemented as you describe. As for Civ6's FOW, I quite like it, and feel it gives enough information without having to read labels. We'll see how easy it is to discern individual districts, but I don't foresee that being a big problem.

A programmers perspective on a buggy release.

I didn't mean to put words into your mouth, but anyway, the reason I said moving the deadline back is 'funny' is not because of anything technical, but rather because of business. Telling your boss or client that you're pushing the release back is not good, and in my experience is never done...

A programmers perspective on a buggy release.

That's funny stuff man. "Extend the deadlines"... heh. And, since I am also a professional programmer and thus infallible on the topic, there's absolutely no chance any piece of software with any complexity can be released for public consumption without any bugs. No chance at all...

To Those Criticizing the Game as Incomplete/Unpolished

So did I, and that's exactly what I got. There are some minor things to clean up / adjust, but it's very much a "complete" game. Edit: I haven't had the game crash once, and it runs smoothly at max graphics even though I'm below the recommended specs.

So which one of you is Sid Meier, and Jon Shafer?

Awww, that's sweet. So THAT'S where all the money from the deluxe edition went.

So which one of you is Sid Meier, and Jon Shafer?

Hey, you don't know what line of work I'm in... maybe I am working. People pay for incredibly strange things....

So which one of you is Sid Meier, and Jon Shafer?

Exactly! :D Actually, not quite, because I am at work. And if I weren't, I would be playing.

Civ V is more complex than Civ IV

Almost like it's a completely new game, right?

So which one of you is Sid Meier, and Jon Shafer?

I really hope they both have better things to do than hang around internet forums. You know, like work, or play Civ5. :P

WARNING: Avoid early makeshift balance mods!

More power to those who play with 1UPT modded out. It's great that we're able to change the game like that. For me? I can't ever see going back to SoD's. Maybe once in a great while on a "let's install BTS to reminisce about the good old days" or "I wonder if playing CivIII drunk is as fun...

Retraction of Criticism - Civ V is great.

I set it to zero, and it doesn't get in my way at all (if it's covering something I want to see, I move the mouse). And I like that the pop up is right next to the cursor, so I'm already looking at it.

An Evaluation: Why CIV 5 is an absolute atrocity.

Don't care, I never play MP. I've got too much to do to devote that much time to one sitting. Don't care - I never play scenarios. This I agree with. Though I don't care so much about animation, but I definitely would like a way to know which tiles are being worked without having to go into...

Realising the power of city states

Indeed! And I've done that quite a few times when I'm using knights and longswordsmen and they gift me an archer.

Realising the power of city states

I played as Greece on Prince following a strategy article on apolyton. Held off all social policy purchases until I bee-lined to the Medieval age, and then completed the Patronage tree before building my 2nd city. I was able to build both Stonehenge and the Great Library by turn 56 (article says...

    Hail Jon Shafer

I haven't posted in a while, but I wanted to chime in to this thread. Civ5 is the best Civ game yet! While there are things that need to get patched, every design change they made significantly makes the game more fun. Everything is fun. I HATED warring in every Civ up til now (been...

Just started, already at 8%, about 1.6MB/s.

What is the benefit of hexes over squares?

It is 36. Each movement point gives you 6 options, and there are two movement points, so it's 6 x 6 = 36. There are certainly less meaningful possible movement paths, but there are 36 options. Obligatory Simpsons reference: I, for one, welcome our new bee overlords. HAIL BEES

Any News on whether we'll be able to download CiV from Steam before release?

I did a search, sorry if this has been posted. Anyway, I remember that they were thinking about allowing pre-orderers to download the game before release, and then when the game is released, those who have already done the download will have the game unlock. Has anyone heard anything recent...
