Right. Some NCR History:

The people of the US West Coast had been less affected by the plague than most other places, so there was still a sizable population base left to rebuild civilization. In 2037, representatives from the independant and prospering cities of Anaheim, San Bernardino, Riverside, Santa Barbara, San Diego, and Ventura met in the deserted ruins of Los Angeles and forged the New California Republic to rebuild Southern California. With the foundations of government working, the people of the NCR could rebuild their shattered society.

And rebuild they did. Out of the ruins of LA they created New Angeles, a glorious capital city that dwarfed even New York back in the old days. New Angeles was a monument to the new era, built in the cyberpunk style. The old skyscrapers were renovated, deserted neighborhoods demolished to make way for parks, and suburbs rebuilt so that the people of the NCR could live like the people of Middle America years ago. A subway system was built. The entire economy of the NCR went into the construction of New Angeles.

Impressed, in 2055, the people of the San Francisco Bay Republic decided to join the NCR. The NCR now stretched from San Diego to the redwood forests of the north. By 2069, a new city, New Francisco, had been constructed, similar to New Angeles, but less massive.

Now, the NCR plans to expand, and bring back the glory days of the old United States of America...

Houston, uh, we have a problem

The numbered map, I put the numbers in N. America, S. America but when I put them in Europe the provinces are too small and its mixed up so you cant read the numbers.

Inspired by SK, I will add a history of my nation(@SK-what game is the second screenie from?)

The boats that held the men and women who fled Alaska when the capital fell returned to Anchorage in 2042 AD, and it was a miracle they were still afloat. Many of the boats were listing to starboard with the crabs and fish they held, and multiple holes dotted the dull, rusted hulls. The men who were elected leaders, brothers Ryan and Sam Blackwell, decided to rebuild the decimated, frozen city they once called home. With the flames from kindling and pine logs, they heated the city. With the newfound warmth, they disassembled all of the buildings and began anew. Beautiful yet simple log cabins were the houses of choice, as pine and other trees were readily avaliable. Using a combination of stone, iron and steel, they rebuilt the town hall, yet more magestically. Instead of the usual design, they took a basic yet complex approach at it, more like a pyramidical skyscraper than a normal building. By 2049, the city was rebuilt. They had banded together some of the groups of survivors, disposing of all still affected by the plague. By 2069, Almost all of Alaska was rejoined, now with parts of what was Canada. Now, the Northwestern American and Canadian Empire has gained enough status to be recognsed by the UN as a nation, and sets out to claim the world, rebuilding province by province, county by county.

Latino Nation: It is our observation that most of the claims maps are done regionally, with a cropped portion of the map being used by each player.

Could the GM not do a similar thing, with multiple images for the territory numbering? It may not be as clean of a solution as initially desired, but it allows tighter regions to be magnified, which would make both the numbering process easier and the reading of the numbers easier.

Whatever part that you have got that works, you can crop and link as a spoilered image... whatever parts that you don't have numbered in a visible manager can be cropped from the original map, renumbered, and added to the list of numbered-territory-images as time goes on.

Most regions are probably self-explanatory as being worth "1" territory, so it's not like you have to put 1s all over the map. The number is more the island clusters, where it's not clear whether said islands "belong" to a neighbouring larger territory, are "grouped" together, are single but count as 0.5, or are single but count as 1.0. So, I would suggest focusing on the areas of the map where it wouldn't be obviously clear. For example, the coast of Alaska... it's hard to tell what's what there in terms of all of the little islands, so it would be a good region to crop, magnifiy, and number. Most of "mainland" North America, for example, is just going to obviously be numbered with 1s everywhere, so don't waste your time on obvious areas of the map.

Another Thought: Less Numbering and More Colouring/Circling with a Map Legend for the Colours that represent different territorial values
When grouping multiple tiny islands together, something more than a number might be of use. For example, you could "circle" all of the islands that count as a group worth either 0.5 or 1. If you might have both types of groupings, you could just have a map legend that says "blue circle" = 0.5, "yellow circle" = 1.0 and hope that no one in the game is blue-yellow colour blind. You wouldn't even need to put down numbers next to such circled groups of territories. You could even have a different colour for islands that are meant to be "by themselves" and worth 0.5 (say, coloured orange) and those that are meant to be by themselves and worth 1.0 (say, coloured purple).

Or a smaller map :p
Can someone make a Wiki page for me? Wikipedia things always get screwed up on my laptop...just copy and paste all the info, and upload the flag. Thanks.

I'll do regionals, a map for Europe, N.America, S. America, Africa, Asia and Australia/Oceania. The main problem isn't the 1s and .5s most of you want each province numbered, so its easier to claim

Or a smaller map :p

Impossible, you wouldn't see most provinces.

I've added the North and South American Map, Red is North Green is south and central. * provinces are .5. Only Europe will be magnified so the numbers can be seen, everything else will remain in normal size.

UPDATE 1# 2070

As the first nations formed and communications were set up between them, the old world looked like a shadow of this. The UN was reassembled and the first chairmans were elected. In the remnants of the old US the new nations 4 new nations sprung up, the goal to unite the old US. In Europe the new byzantium claimed to be a successor of the old empire, Italy is reformed and Prussia is aiming for a new Germany and the Swiss are oddly expanding, Scotland is the only nation in the british isles. Kiev and Russia have formed, and a war might be on horizon. In Asia a new democratic China has raised from the ashes of the PRC, which could not feed the people. South Korea managed to somehow make it through the global pandemic, producing two great minds. The Malayan Ninja clan is a silly nation, not much to say about it. In Tibet after the fall of China the Tibetenese managed to create their Maoist state. On the continent of riches Ethiopia has grown from a small enclave to a nation. Egypt, taking advantage of the Nile managed to survive and the lebanese fled to Tunis. In the south the Lation Nation has formed, a cartel rather then a nation. The world is still quite, for now.

I'd like to claim 5 Russian territories, all South of my current holdings and touching my current territory.

Build an army and put the rest into the nuke program.
