Single Player bugs and crashes - After the 13th of August 2013

@strategyonly, actually, I've been trying to motivate you to use your brain about some sh*t USA is doing and for which you - as a citizen and voter - are responsible.

I can't vote (not a US citizen), and anyway, since both parties have essentially the same foreign policies here and it's basically a 2-party system, it's more fundamental than that.

Incidentally, where are you from?

OK its there.

The save you posted is of a totally different turn (2074AD, whereas your picture was from 2091). What do I bombard and where? The town pictured in your image I cannot find. Need more info on how top gt it to CTD from the save you actually posted...

I'm also getting an end-of-turn crash on SVN 6036. I confirmed It's not anything I'm building by adding 'Build Wealth' to the beginning of all my cities' queues. I don't think anyone is at war, but if someone declared war or a city revolted on the AI's turn it could be the same bombard bug described above.

Ok - I can reproduce this, and it explains SO's issue too. Should have a fix later today.

@SO - don't worry about a new save - I'm pretty sure Nevet's example is the same thing that you had.

So when i wrote it, it was wrong, but when Koshling wrote it it was correct???:crazyeye:

I forgot to delete the bit I was not answering.

So move these back to where they were, just back up in the python??

Yes but just revert the file. I can't get it to work (SVN to revert). When I do the commands nothing happens.

Yeah when its just 1 file, i find it better to just look at the "Log SVN" and make an export of just that 1 file into an empty folder then use that for merging.

EDIT: I thought we fixed the Blimp Advertising btn??

Didn't figure you'd need a save to diagnose that problem since I bet you can reproduce it on any of your games too, but here you go.

Save is for SVN 6042. I tried airlifting an Agent from my capitol to one of my bunkers east of the Minoans, but I bet it will work with any unit going to any bunker/fort.

@DancingHoskuld

This is the save game at the time of the immigrant problem.

It is a Multi-player Direct IP game (played as a single player). Thunderbird is the player as Egypt Cleopatra.

The immigrants are in Asyut ( I think that is the name of the city).

Let me know if you need any more information.

1. Not sure if this is a bug or not, but every game I start with latest svn, number of beakers are always bigger than commerce generated by first city, (sometimes only by 1 beaker, sometimes by more then 10). That is at prehistoric era first turn, default buildings and default civics so I don't understand where extra beakers are coming from. Example and savegame are in attach.

2. There is python exception at Victory Conditions(F8)/Settings. Screenshot also in attach.

Yup, I was right about changing this topic's name. :D Well, if you are comfortable with reading a bug/politics/philosophy/economy/cooking/bungee jumping topic, I don't mind talking here. But guessing PM is quite an alternative. :) Hmm, but from the other hand, forcefully educating out dear readers sounds so delightful totalitarian. :nya:

CTD when clicking on next turn. Not repeatable.

Minidump points a fairly definite finger at the problem. It will happen if some player is not able to build any units of UNITAI UNITAI_CITY_DEFENSE. I don't think this should normally happen, but I'll add protection against it so that it at least doesn't cause a crash when it does (have seen this before and it seems to happen very occasionally -might be a caching bug, but I can at least mitigate the impact)

Yeah i believe also its a caching bug.

@DH:

This is after YOUR latest python file you gave me for partisan:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "BugEventManager", line 363, in _handleDefaultEvent
File "Partisan", line 521, in onCombatResult
RuntimeError: unidentifiable C++ exception

Also i have been getting this lately ALOT, how can i get rid of these once and for all. without cheating??

They just pop-up every now and then and take over any city they want??

"
PY:Rev - Player 1 (Korean Provisional Authority) is a homeless rebel
PY:Rev - Korean Provisional Authority (1) is a rebel against teams 0"

I am beginning to suspect cultural units but I am not sure. I create a version with some debug displays in it then you can post the debug log and I can see better what is happening. You would need logging on and at the debug level (in BUG).

Insufficient information I would need the log files and probably a save game to figure it out.

@StrategyOnly try the attached python for Partisans. It goes in my folder in the Python folder. It adds a few more debug messages so hopefully will give us an idea what is going wrong.

Hey guys,

I'm getting a MAF error on Revision 6045 when I attempt to do an Assets re-calculation. It happens whether its just after the save game is loaded and the option box appears to do the re-calc or whether I play a couple of turns and then do a Ctrl-Shift-T. Should I do this re-calc in View Port mode ? I am playing on a giant map with 12 Civs and I have approximately 60 cities.

PythonError file attached.

Cheers

Make sure you do what post # 1 asks, thx.

Also try this when it says about Viewports.

Ok- no worries.

I have attached the Minidump_6042 and Save Game files (as Dumps.rar).

To reproduce, load the save and select "Yes" when prompted to do an Assets recalculation.

The game runs fine with or without Viewports enabled, and the MAF occurs with or without Viewports on.

Regards
ColonelFlag

The dump shows a crash somewhere in the game engine itself (not our code), probably due to a MAF. When I load and do a recalc when asked (without viewports) I get a MAF also. With viewports (set at 40X40) though, it all works fine for me. I have tried this with both the assets I had (a couple of days out of date), and the very latest, with the same results.

So, a couple of questions:

1) When you turned viewports on did you restart the Civ4 engine before you tried to use this save? (viewport on/off only takes effect across a restart)

2) What viewport size did you try? (I used the default 40X40)

Incidentally, since you seem to be the only player visible in this game, is this some sort of unusual 1-person-score challenge or something?
