A minor issue, you can't select How many turns to GP Scientist in City menu

It's caused by a typo that's very simple to fix.

Open CityPara.lua in the mod directory.
Search for TurnsToGPScience and replace with TurnsToGPScientist.

Sry, I just downloaded the houndog's updated version on post #24 which always loads the cheater version :crazyeye:. The OP version is working OK.

you can easily turn cheat mode on or off, by opening C:\Users\(YOURUSERNAME)\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS\CivWillard for BNW (v 2)\CivWillardPara.lua with notepad and change the line

GG.P.cheatMode = true --shows stats for all major civs

change true to false and save in notepad.

ahhh... I need to find time to update these minor thingies...

Curse you Paradox!!!

EDIT: yes, you too, Creative Assembly. (already pre-loaded :D )

EDIT 2: now that we are at it, curse you wife, children, work, life... I want a winner lotto ticket! So I can buy Firaxis, re-hire Shafer, put him inside a Mitnick cage (similar to a Faraday cage, but different :D ) during the entire development cycle, and start my very own Civ6...

EDIT 3: Just kidding... about the wife and children part.

Unfortunately CivWillard seems to be incompatible with the latest community mod pack releases.

With both activated I get a half visible CivWillard screen on the screen upon starting the game.

Relevant part of lua.log pasted below. First error comes when starting game and the last set is from trying to push the "close" button.

Would be nice with a solution...

Hi, I recently got BNW and was delighted to see an updated version of CivWillard posted here, since I love the mod.

When I install it, it shows up and activates normally on the Mods menu. When I start a game, however, I'm getting the three buttons and also a smallish blank Data Box on the screen in front of the map, which I can't get rid of. It has a Close button (and even a little x in the upper left), when I click it makes the button sound but nothing happens. Similarly the three normal buttons click but have no effect.

Running on a MacBook 2.25Ghz, 4 GB RAM.

Any suggestions?

I have seen that behaviour ONLY when the mod conflicts with some other mod. Are you running something else?

Thanks for the prompt reply!

I'm not running any other mods. There were a couple of other, like CSD, unupdated, in the mods folder when I downloaded this one, but I didn't activate them. Still at that point actually the game wouldn't even open, I got a message that said 'wrong version' or something. When I emptied those others out, then the game opened with behavior I described. And just to be sure, just now I trashed that CivWillard, leaving the Mods folder empty, and re-downloaded it. Same result unfortunately.

Try deleting everything inside your cache folder, and let Steam validate game files, and then try again (only this mod).

I am happily running it together with my other mod (Global Relations), without any problems.

OK, I deleted everything in the cache - I'm assuming that means the cache in the Sid Meier's Civ 5 folder.

I'm not sure if 'let Steam validate game files' is an active step I'm supposed to take (and if so how).

So skipping that I tried again, only this mod, and still same result. :(

The cache folder in your My Documents folder.

Validate Steam is inside the right-click menu when you right click on Civ5 inside your Steam application.

Thanks, was just going to update my last post! Today feeling a bit more resourceful I nosed around the Steam window and found Properties by right-clicking Civ 5 as you say, and selecting Properties: Local Files: Verify Integrity of Game Cache I got a progress bar saying 'validating Steam cache files', which took a good 15 minutes - I assume that's what your talking about?

[EDIT: I did get a message at the end saying 'one file could not be validated and will be reaquired']

After that I quit and reopened Steam, optimistically retried the Mod (though I had to re-enable the mods menu in the MainMenu.lua file, which had reverted for some reason)... and still got the same dead black data box.

And yes the cache I dumped was Documents/Aspyr/Sid Meier's Civ 5/cache.

Aggravating, I know! Any more thoughts?:help:

Well, the only thing left then is to use Firetuner... I assume you never used it before, so look for a thread that explains it (it's not that hard), start a game with Firetuner running in the background, and then paste the image of the text window here to see where the mod crashes for you. It may be Mac related.

Thanks again.
So far everything I find on Firetuner says that it's part of the SDK download from the Steam library. However when I find SDK under Library/Tools, it lists as not available under my current platform, so maybe it's a PC-only protocol. Is there any other way to obtain Firetuner?

I'm inclined to agree the problem is probably Mac-related; has anyone else gotten this BNW version up and running on a Mac?

I had the same problem when I tried it on my Mac. Then I downloaded version 2, and it worked. The only issue is that on my 1280x1024 screen, the minor civ default view is too wide.

Aristos - Quoting AlanH's reply to my post on the Mods-for-Mac thread - don't know if this is informative to you: :)

I have installed CivWillard in my Steam Civ5. I see a similar pop-up to the one in your screen shot, but I can click the Close button at the bottom right to dismiss it, or I can toggle it by clicking any of the three buttons at the bottom of the screen.

I have enabled logging in my config.ini file, and the lua.log file contains:

[3578172.279] Runtime Error: xxxxx\Documents\Aspyr\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS\CivWillard (v 1)\CityData.lua:64: attempt to call method 'GetRouteGoldTimes100' (a nil value)

Not being familiar with the Lua scripting language, I can't identify the cause of this error. or try to debug it.
