At the end of my
Ancient Age Post, I had a pile of gold leftover from my 50 turn Republic research. Sumeria had beaten me to the Middle Ages, getting Feudalism as their free tech. I gifted Babylon into the Middle Ages as well, and they also got Feudalism. Trade Republic, ROP, and 853 gold for Feudalism from Babylon. Since I figure both civs will likely go for Monotheism, I start Engineering, due in 10 turns.
I'm still at a loss for what to do this game seeing how far behind I am in time, but decide I'm going to start by cleaning up my continent and then we'll go from there. Tech will follow the bottom path to Military Tradition.
Declare war on Arabia in 440AD, take them out in 500AD with a 3 man chariot to start my golden age.
470AD Gunpowder learned, only one on continent, and it's Babylons.
In 600AD I unexpectedly ride a huge tidal wave accross the ocean.

Here's what happened. Sumeria has a large part of the SW continent. I had a galley along their shore, very much near the center of their coastline. I also had a scout roaming around in their territory for a number of turns. Apparently they were offended by my harmless units and made us leave. Well, apparently, the nearest free coast for my galley was across the ocean, right next to Portugal.

They have just entered the Middle Ages, needing Feudalism and Engineering.
Closest save I have for ocean jump:
610AD Chemistry learned. Meet Korea, they have Monotheism, trade Engineering for it + gold. Declare war on Babylon.
630AD Meet China, they have Monotheism, need Feudalism and Engineering.
660AD Learn Metallurgy.
700AD Peace with Babylon after taking 4 cities, destroying 5th and getting on in peace.
720AD The heavily weakened Babylonians attack the powerhouse Sumerians?

I really would like the Hanging Gardens in Babylon, and I'm worried about Sumeria getting them first.
730AD I'm building Leonardo's in Hattusas, have workers trying to speed it up some by finishing improvements there.
740AD Learn Military Tradition, turn off research. Pillage the saltpeter and switch all the cav builds back to 3 man chariots, while sending 6 slaves to the saltpeter. Upgrades are 150g so I will save the bulk of my upgrades for after Leonardo's is built. And as a minor note, this is where I passed Sumeria for 1st place on the scoreboard (610-606).
760AD Connect SP and upgrade 2 cav to load on a galley to pillage southern horses in Sumeria.
810AD Sumeria kicks our galleys out across the ocean. Now I have 2 cavs across the water in one galley and a scout in the other. A stupid mistake will sink the galley with cavs later on.
820AD Sumeria and Babylon make Peace, no cities lost. Meet Zulu, they are behind like Portugal.
840AD Upgrade 14 cavs (w/o LEO) to take out Babylon.
850AD Break treaty with Babylon, taking Nineveh.
870AD Take Babylon with Hanging Gardens. Rush Barracks in Nineveh.
880AD Finish Leo, upgrade 42 chariots to cavalry. Yes it sounds like overkill, but my plan is to overwhelm Sumeria as fast as possible to avoid culture flips. I've got a bunch near Der and a bunch near Babylon, for a 2 front attack on Sumeria. The middle is guarded by mountains and desert so not to worrisome.
890AD The moronic Zulu attack us, killing the scout I have roaming around Korea.
900AD Destroy Babylonians. Trade Gunpowder for Theology and 71 gold from Sumeria since they have no Saltpeter and I don't plan on them lasting long enough anyway. They don't have Education yet, so I should be safe to use an ROP to start my war. The only worry is Portugal with the Great Lighthouse. In hindsight, I would have been more worried if I'd realized they also were seafaring so had 2 extra movement points, or 5 move galleys. They could have shown up at any time.
920AD Sign ROP with Sumeria and start moving forces into Sumeria. See a lot of MI and Pikes scattered about. Most cities are defended with pikes. I stack 20 cavalry on the mountain 2 tiles from both UR and Sumer, the 2 big wonder cities.
930AD Finish moving troops as far as I can before breaking ROP. Then I start the war.
Take Der (the iron city), getting 2 elites.
Take Ur with 7 cav, no losses, getting Pyramids and Great Wall, which will make some battles easier.
Attack some open space defenders getting my first leader.
Take Sumer, which was HEAVILY defended, losing 5 cav, but gaining Sun Tzu and Temple of Artemis!

This will help fill in my newly acquired territory.
Take Kisura.
Take Akshak.
Build army with leader and load with 3 vet cav.
940AD Lose a couple units on counter attack.
Take Zabalam.
Kill MI and a Sumerian Leader.
Take Bad-tibira.
6 cities to go.
950AD Take Agade with Army, Kish, Erech, Umma with Mausoleum, Isin. One city left.
At this point I'm debating the future. I could go on and try for conquest or domination, would probably be pretty easy, but I'm guessing many will go that route because of the slow tech pace. Decide to continue on for Diplo. Maybe this will be my month? Start switching cities to infrastructure to build libraries, courthouses, marketplaces, etc. for science buildup.
960AD Take Lagash, destroying Sumerians in 4 turns, with no flips. I have 125 units, only allowed 94 so I start disbanding units to speed production of my infrastructure.
990AD Learn Education, could have used a couple more turns of TOA expansion, but I don't want to waste anymore time speeding tech. Gift the rest of other continent to tech parity.
1030AD Portugal found the crossing, few turns to late to tarnish my rep.

Learn Astronomy, I need cash for rushing so sell Astronomy to Korea for 102gpt, and Printing Press and then gift both to the rest.
1070AD Learn Physics.
1110AD Portugal drops 2 ancient cav on my northern shore, I ask them to leave, they declare war. Learn Magnetisim. Take out AC with my cav. Trade Iron for silks from Korea. Note the Portugal has a trade with China, so ally China against Portugal for iron and then give China Physics for wines.
1140AD Get Banking from Korea for Magnetisim.
1150AD Learn Gravity and enter the Industrial Age.
The world at 1250AD (forgot to save at 1150).
