Hinge of Fate Version 2- World War 2, 1941-1945

Ah. Thanks. That must have been it. I actually found a work around though. I copied the Pacific scenario unit art into the HOV folder and then changed the scenario file path to simply HOF_V2 and that worked.

HOF lite is a scaled down version of my original HOF scenario.
The objective is a faster multi-player game. This scenario uses the
same HOF_V2 folder as the full scale version so if you do not have it on
your computer you need to go to post #2 in this thread and download it.

I am posting this here so that anyone who wants to help can give it a test
run in single player mode, this will help to shake out the bugs.

The differences between HOF and HOF lite:

Smaller map (256x208).

There are only 5 civs, The Commonwealth, Germany, Japan, USA and USSR.
The Chinese cities are controled by the United States and Italian cities are controlled
by Germany.

Each game turn is 2 months.

No marines in HOF lite; all foot infantry (not mech inf.) can make amphibious assaults.

Fewer techs.

Transports: The basic transport can carry 2 land units of any type. Convoys can carry 4
units but are slower than transports.

Generals and armies:
You cannot build armies in HOF lite. Each civ has a miltary academy which auto-produces
generals (MGLs). The basic army can hold 2 units, building the pentagon raises capacity
to 3. Germany and Japan start the game with more generals than the Allies, however the
allied academies produce faster so the Allies will catch up.

The academies are:

Sandhurst - Commonwealth
Offizierschulen - Germany
Imperial Army Academy - Japan
West Point - USA
General Staff Academy - USSR

The use of non-era techs:
There are 2 of these in HOF lite, Regular Industry and American Industry.

Regular industry - allows the construction of factories.

American Industry allows the construction of defense plants. Defense plants
are cheap to build and more productive than factories. At the start of the scenario
America only has defense plants in the largest cities such as New York and LA.
As the war progesses the Amercan player can build more defense plants in second
tier cities such as Denver and Atlanta, this simulates the United States gearing up
for war. A city must have a hydro plant before it can build a defense plant. Since
the Hoover Dam is already built in Los Vegas, all continental Amercan cities will
have a hydro plant, but cities in China cannot build defense plants unless they build an
expensive hydro plant first.

This should be a very interesting variant for us to play. What did you finally decide about the Lancaster issue? Squadron/Signal's Lancaster in Action lists the first opperational unit, 44 Squadron didn't make their first operational sortie until March 1942.

I could change the Brit. heavy bomber unit from a Lancaster to the
Halifax which was in service, but that will mean changing the units
folder so it will go onto the "things to for V3" list.

Wyrmshadow released this new unit. It will replace the the Panther for
Japan in the next release:

The Type 5

I WANT ONE!!!!!

There's been some nice aircraft released by Firefox and ToP Gun too Eric..did you see those included Floatplanes and PBYs!!!!

When HoF V2 was first released there were a lot of
complaints about the new turn sequence where Russia
moved before the Germans. Some felt that this would cripple
the Germans giving them no chance to ever capture Moscow.
Hence the "no attacks on German units" on GT1 rule was born.

However, I subsequently made changes to the Russian setup,
moving the empty army units to remote locations, moving all
the IL-4 medium bombers away from front line airbases and demoting
some rail tiles to roads to slow the reinforcements from Siberia. This
would prevent the Russians from launching an all-out counter attack
until January, as was the case historically.

What I did not intend was for the new setup to be used with the
"no attacks on German units" on GT1 rule. This has the effect of
a double handicap on Russia.

I have decided to release V2.09 in 2 versions:

V2.09a - This has the built-in handicap and should be used
WITHOUT the "no attacks on German units" on GT1 rule.

V2.09h - This is the historical set-up and you can use the
rule if you wish.

I have made one more important change in V2.09. I have increased
the number of cities required to support an army from 2 to 3.
This means that Germany which starts the game with 24 cities
and 8 armies will not be able to build any additional armies until it
captures 3 more cities (or loses an army in combat).

Eric,

I like the mod but frankly..I think we need you working on HOF 3!

There are lots of new units created by Firefox, Wrymshadow, and TopGun. I believe you have all my suggestions for the revision.

I want to suggest adding the Lancaster to the second tier of aviation to be researched and start the Halifax as the primary British Bomber.

Also please do consider adding Seaplanes and floatplanes to the appropriate Capital Ships if possible.

And I think the US & Brits should have the ability to move certain units from their Prewar positions on turn 1. In particular...I think POW & Recluse should start at their historical location in Nov. Then let the CW player decide where they should best be used.

Same with the US at sea CVs near Pearl and teh SSs in the PI....

Anyhow...I know you get tired of me but you know I am available to help you in any way possible!

PS...and the Chinese cannot draft Infantry nor build them without resources!!! They draft and build Militia!!!!

Sully:
As far as V3 goes, have you seen 19Delta's Fuso? It's at:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=259872&page=2
Can't do V3 without that beauty.

I'm also learning Blender and might attempt to do the Kumano
model myself.

I like your idea of expanding the pre-turn, maybe let all ships
that start at sea move 4 or 5 tiles to add some uncertainty to
things, also let all the invisible partisan units move (but not
attack).

You can add the Fuso created by 19delta and Wrymshadow as follows:

1. Rename the \Conquests\Scenarios\HOF_V2\Art\Units\DeRuyter folder
to OldDeRuyter.

2. Download the zip file below, extract the new DeRuyter folder and
copy it to the \Conquests\Scenarios\HOF_V2\Art\Units\ folder.
