Turnset 6 - Gosha (400BC - 125AD)

Revolted to Repr+Slavery at turn 1

Warfare
Decided to take 3 closer and better cities of Shaka in the first setting. Attacked the capital with 3-galley seaborn desant. Second attack force was aiming at the peninsula city, but only after repelling possible attack on our cities - Shaka had 5-unit stack roaming close to our borders, threatening the improvements.
The capital was attacked with 4 maces and 2 cats borne by 3 galleys. Similar force was at the second front, with former city garrisoned 3 archers and axe supporting them.
As the result, we captured all 3 cities in 5 turns, with Shaka's stack suiciding over our jungle-stationed maces. 3rd city was razed due to inferior location. Peace Treaty for IW, HBR and map. Losses - cmth like 3 cats, 1 axe, 1 archer. Shaka is left with 2 marginal cities to the west of Ulundi, one of them on top of copper.

City Development
Marble city built Moai via several slavery overflows from granary, forge, lhouse, library. Also, a settler for repopulating ex-Shaka lands was made. In our weak Stone city I built granary, forge, lhouse, library; Colossus should be finished soon, but for the barb galley threatening our fishing nets.
Capital after training 8 maces built GLib, baray and is starting HG. Elephant city on the west is building Parthenon.

A GS is born in the capital.

We've discovered Poly, Aesthetics, Literature, Currency, Paper and are currently researching Edu.

We got several events: a farm was destroyed, we got a free apple wood with +1 food, which we gladly turned into a good farm, and gems popped in a mine in capital's BFC - other teams, please don't hate us.

The task for the next person is optimise the Oxford timing, grab Music GA, finish wonders, repop the land (we've indicated several good places so far) and perhaps finish the old Shaka.
 
Turnset 7 - Dynamic (125AD - 620AD)

Goals
Common plan for this session was:
1) Build Oxford;
2) Complete current Wonders and build Mausoleum;
3) Settle cities on the best places in our region.
After some thoughts we decided don't attack Shaka nearest time at least till his new Capitol will not reach 40% culture.

Science
We reserched Monoteism (revolt to Org and Confu) - Music - Education (GS helps) - Calendar - Philo and stopped research till the Oxford (Compass).
Organaized Religion is very good for buildings, we need to build many of them ib old cities and more in the new ones.
We inserted Music into tech way only for grabbing GA.

Tactics
Oxford required 6 Universities on Standart map but our sixth city "XZ" was too small and undeveloped so it's city stayed the limit for Oxford starting and other cities could build something else but their Universities should be ready not later then XZ's one.
So we have time to complete current Wonders (Gardens, Colossus, Parthenon) and even to build a new one - Mausoleum in Ulundi (chop 4 forests for that).
After 5 turns we discovered Barbarian city on the south and 4 Maces went there. After some turns we met some free barbs on the south and 2 Maces were wound. So 2 more Maces went to south and successfully captured barb's town.
We pillaged Cottages near the destroyed Shaka city for cash.

City Development
- Capital built HG, Colosseum, University, Market, Confu Missionary, some gold and the Oxford.
- Mar (Island Marble city in the East) built Confu Temple, Colosseum, Settler (rashed by 2 to Angkor), University (rashed by 4 to Angkor) and now is building Angkor Wat.
- Slon built Parthenon, Library, University (rashed by 3 to Granary), Granary, now is building Lighthouse.
- Kam built Trirem (rashed by 2 to Colossus) for killing Barb Galley, Colossus, Settler (rashed by 3 to University), University (rashed by 3 to Worker + 1 Chop), Worker and Scout for Huts.
- Ulundi built Forge (rashed by 3 to Library), Library (rashed by 1 to Mausoleum), Mausoleum (4 chops), University (rashed by 3 to Settler), now is buildind Settler (1 turn left).
- XZ built Granary (rashed by 2 to Library), Library (rashed by 2 to University), University (rashed by 4 to Forge), now is building Forge.
- Iron was founded in 300AD near the Iron. :) built Grabary (rashed by 1 to Forge), Forge (1 Chop), now is building Lighthouse.
- Psheno was founded in 540AD in the middle south near Cow and Wheat, now is building Granary.

Misc
Settler from Mar is near the target (by Galley) place on the south Marble. Settler from Ulundi will go to the place under Ulundi near Cow and Fish.
Most of Workers went to XZ for irrigating then choped near Ulundi then built road to the south and now are working near Psheno. Other worker chop forests to the Capital and Worker near Kam built Mine, Workshop and chop Forest.
So we made most of goals (Settling not ended, 3 turns left) and now with 500 bulbs per turn can continue researching Compass-Optics, then may be PPress, Nationalism and hope for exchange Feudalism from remote AIs.
During this Session we got Monarchy from Joao for Currency, sold Iron Working, Aestetics, Construction, Monoteism and Map, exchange Wine for Fish.
1 GP was born - GE in the Capital.

Turnset 8 - Grey Cardinal (620 - 920)

The task was to enhance our GP-city, start developing our new cities south of Zululand and find other civs.

Techs
Compass, Optics (for contacts and techtrading), Gunpowder, Astro (delayed it as hoped to pop it from a hut - unsuccessfully).

Cities
Capital: catapult, 2 caravels, harbor, chouse, cash. Decided not to build WW, capture them instead
Slon (elephant city): missionary, harbor, lhouse. Start NotrDam for happiness and to avoid generating GA (still, used this city later to pop a GP)
Mar[ble], our GP-generating city: Angkor Wat (to hire extra priests and generate GPP), temple (+1 priest). Started AP after getting Theo in trade
Kam (stone city): boat, boat, missionary, worker, chouse
Ulundi: finish settler, grow by 2, colloseum, harbor, worker, start NatEpic.
XZ: grow to 8, rush forge for 3, boat for city south of Ulundi, chouse
Iron: lhouse, missionary, library, harbor, chouse. Grow usig sea tiles until happiness limit.
Psheno (wheat city): granary, forge, chouse
Harappan: granary, forge, chouse
Bobr (marble, furs, seafood city): granary, forge, chouse.
All new cities are targetting max hammer output - build farms, mines, workshops, hammer and food enhancers.

Military
Plan:
We can attack Shaka again in 7 turns (he was left with 2 cities NW from Ulundi) with 5 maces and a cat. leave 3 maces to guard new cities from barbs. Shaka axes will max at 5+95% at hill city, giving 66% shance to our CR2 maces and 78% to CR3 after we remove the defensive bonus. For this plan to build one more cat.

Fact
Shaka built tons of troops - had 6 units and a settler at one point. Later a boat left with settler and archer, but he didn't manage to found a new city - later we killed a damaged barb galley. Razed the city on top of copper, losing a cat and a mace. Shaka counterattacked Ulundi with 2 impi - one was intercepted by a mace, the other attacked an archer and lost - we should've constructed one more, but got Feud and the task became xbow, thus not finishing that turn; so we had 17% risk of losing the city - but didn't.

Events
1. Shaka's capital reached 40% culture (higher defense and stealing tiles from Ulundi) at turn 3-4. So 7 turns of time reserve befoer attack was an overestimation.
2. Gandhi(?) built Zeus and Hagia Sophia
3. We met Charlemagne the founder of Buddhism. He had Feudalism. We gifted him Compass at the first turn for +4 in trade, allowing Open Borders and stuff. It turned out later that selling world map would also suffice.
4. Someone is fighting actively - 2 generals were born (turned out those were Charlemagne and Boudica)
5. GM born in capital. Leave for Corporation
6. Traded for Feud, gifted to Joao, who became Friendly and traded us Theo
7. Finished Shaka, lost a cat on the last city - he had axe, 2 archers, impi and chariot.
8. Contacted Caesar, traded for maps. See India with capital and other city on top of marble and stone. See Greece.
9. Someone finished Chichen Itza.

Goal: continue developing our new cities, proceed with GP, contact all AI, facilitate trade, get espionage on them to see their research.

Reallocated citizens to get Astro in 2 turns instead of 3, thanx to Grey Cardinal for ponting out. On the next turn Hinduist Gandhi completed AP - all temples excluded.
Contacted Gandhi - he had Paper and MCasting. After a brief but intense discussion with the team decided to use Liber for Steel, as we wouldn't have had a better use for it until Assembly Line, and earlier IWorks would compensate part of the lightbulb loss.

Sold Gandhi Compass for map, 50 coins and diplo bonuses.
Barb galley self-destructed against the star-board of our galleon.
Gandhi completed Sistine in Vijayanagar amid war, Sankoer in Delhi and popped another GP which he used for Church of Nativity (which allows us to slacken a bit on GP generation in Mar). He and Pericles seem to target Culture victory.

Some strategic notes on our game.

We believe that the most efficient finish will be high-hammer finale at UN-Combustion-Refrigeration tech limit, while capturing earlier wonders built by AI. The victory type is diplo or domi or vassal conquest.

Main stages:
1. Early - develop the capital, hook up strategic resources, settle good sites. Some early techs + fast GS for Academy + CS from Oracle. Building highly efficient early wonders: Oracle, Pyrs, GLhouse, GLib, Colossus. Establish Marble island city as a GProphet factory with Moai, temples, etc, produce GP for early Corporations.
2. Expanding living space - kill off Shaka, start to settle south of Zululand with future hammer-cities.
3. Developing our research ability further: Edu -> Oxford.
4. Develop high-hammer economy: Steel, beeline for Assembly Line, get factories and powerplants, beeline for Communism. With Castes and State Property each plains workshop gives 1/5/0 (1/6/0 during GA)
5. Create the force to capture cities with WWs, while finishing the techline and building wonders.
 
Turnset 10 - Kaizer (1120 - 1290)

From this turnset we officially switched to mini-sessions (4-5 turns) mode to have a better grip on the game progress

Task: get the country ready for indusrial revolution and Golden Age.

Techs
Replaceable Parts - Steam Power - Nationalism (for Taj) - Constitution - Corporation (as late as possible to extend the GLhouse effect) - Assembly Line

During the turnset decided to utilise the GPP in Slon to generate a GP for GAge - hired several specialists to overtake Yasa. Got GProphet in Slon and later GS in Yasa, compared the effect and decided to launch with GP as GS would give us some techno boost, while there will be enough GP from Mar, and extra GE we could've born instead would not accelerate the finish.

Finished the build order of the previous player, also built levees in Yasa, Ulundi and Psheno. After our 2nd GP built Kong Miao in Slon, bank and grocer for cash. Ulundi finished IWorks, Taj 1 turn to go. All unoccupied cities built cash to be spent while building factories and power plants - managed to accumulate 600 coins while keeping 100% science slider.

Workers finished workshops and prechopped forest.

Boats and caravels scouted arctic regions to sell maps for cash.

Renewed resource deals for greater income.
 
Turnset 11 - Dynamic (1290 - 1480AD)

Main Goal
Start double Golden Age, build Factories and Coal Plants in all cities, build Pentagon and big Infantry-based Army for future World War.

1290AD: Switch to Caste System and Organized Religion
1350AD: Switch to State Property and Pacifism

Great Peoples
We started GA by GProphet (1290AD) because we need only 2 of them for left Religious Buildings but Mar will easly produce 2 more GP.
GP plan: GSpy (Communism 1350AD), GProphet (Mar 1380AD), GScientist (Physics 1450AD), GScientist (Kam 1480AD), Yasa, Ulundi, Mar (GP).
If GP in Yasa will be GScientist we will put 3 GS into Biology amd Electricity. In other case we will use 4-th Golden Age.

Techs
Scientific Method 1310AD;
Communism 1350AD;
Rifles 1380AD;
Railroad 1420AD;
Physics 1450AD;
Democracy 1470AD.

Cities
After building Factories, Plants and Barracs (1380AD - Pentagon and Rifles) 8/11 cities started building army (a few Cannons, Galeons, Frigats and Infantries). Ulundi, XZ and Kam have been built Science. After discovering Physics some Airships were built.

Army
First Group of Infantries and Cannons went to the Gandhi's borders by 7 Galleons. Next group ~18 Infantries will go by railroad to the western edge of Joao's land and then will be transferred by Galleons. Other forces will go tho the east by second Galleons group.
Because of AI already learnt Chemistry and almost know Military Science we need enough Frigats to protect our transport units and decreasing Culture protection in the alien cities.

Future
Detailed plan of attack will be created during next session.
In common we need to capture most of AI (with Vassal method), learn techs till Mass Media and some Corporations techs, build all left Wonders and Small Wonders exept several far ones.
 
While waiting for GP in Yasa, we delay Electricity to use GS on Bio, which will be blocked by Fission after Electricity. We thus plan to learn Fascism and pre-research Bio and El.
 
Now we go forward step by step (very short) because it's very important and complicated part of game. We got just 2 GS and decided to use 2 GA with them instead of rashing science.
In 1535AD we already have 3 Vassals (by war), Jao will be a peace Vassal, so we need just take Charly and Pericle. We are fighting with 50+ Infantries, some Cannons, Airships, Galleons and Frigats.
We are planning to finish in the 1600-1610AD with 58 of 62 Wonders. Of course, it's just plan.
 
City Development
- Capital built HG, Colosseum, University, Market, Confu Missionary, some gold and the Oxford.
- Mar (Island Marble city in the East) built Confu Temple, Colosseum, Settler (rashed by 2 to Angkor), University (rashed by 4 to Angkor) and now is building Angkor Wat.

I mean the city "Mar" pop-rushed Settler by 2 citizens when overflow reaches maximum and next turn this overflow put in Angkor Wat wonder. This way I maximized effect of slavery.
 
In 1565AD we have 4 Vassals, 5-th next turn. After that we need Parsalos from Pericle only for last Holy Building. UN will force Diplo-Victory in 1595AD, last critical point for us is trading Military Traditions (West Point). If it will be done we will finish in 1595AD with 58/62 Wonders.
 
That is, we're hoping to trade MilTrad from our vassals. Otherwise it'll take another turn to learn it ourselves and finish.

We are pretty sure that Murky will beat your score of 1.2664 and it also looks like no other team will come close to 1.26 so it's silver for you and bronze for us.

We didn't know about the strategy of going for Assembly Line and factories in order to build science. Is this a standard Space game strategy in BtS?
