Role Play Challenge, TNG: Nikola Tesla, Mad Scientist or Supergenius: You Decide

Sometimes they are "We would have nothing to gain" if they are on the verge of researching it themselves (though I have no idea why sometimes this happens and usually not). Pretty annoying if you just wanted to gift it (to a vassal for example). I don't think I've seen this in 3.19 though.

You have no tech brokering on, right? It happens when the AI already started to research a tech. They won't accept it because they wouldn't be able to trade it.

OK, this makes alot of sense then. Surpirsed the4 AI is that smart.

Nuke their uranium supply and they won't have it anymore...

Unless they happen to build a city ontop of it!

Finished the next segment. Rather "interesting".

>>Unless they happen to build a city ontop of it!
Still destroying the roads or using blockade does the trick.
Bring us the next episode :)

Nikola Tesla: The Edges of OBSESSION!

A very interesting contest this has turned out to be! In perhaps the next segment we can answer that question "Madman or Genius", However for now....

We start by researching as we see fit since there is almost someone ahead of us

Assembly Line/Biology/Ecology/Refridgeration/Superconductors/Railroad/Combustion/Industrialisation/Plastics/Radio and start Computers.

Very early we find out that

Cursed Wonder, nothing but useless miscreants who's purpose to hinder the Genius of Tesla!

As Napolean was still being a jerk and we had a dozen turns until the Manhatten Project was done, we gladly accepted this random event.

And wouldn't you know it, the turn after

Gandhi is a Military animal this game!!! Holy Smokes, but more on that later.

And soon after

MUHAHAHA!!!!!

The Teslan Deathray has been constructed!

Now napolean is not too bright because soon after that.

Sure Napolean, why don't you just wear a sign saying "Nuke Me".

But before we start unloading on the Zulu, let's see Victory Conditions.

That friends is a major problem.

And as you can see folks

His three culture cities are all solidly landlocked!!!!

Ok, OK enough of this Indian Arab for now. Let's concentrate on more important things.

First off all we got a pretty strong National Park city build which I think is worth a peak at

See Tesla is not just all light's, test tubes, and Mass Murder, he has a naturalistic side to him!

And the cursed UN has thrown a major wall in our path.

Tough choice, but we CANNOT afford to get out of representation, so we defy it resulting in a -5 diplo "We see you as a Villian" message. How dare they say that to Nikola Tesla, why I will destroy them all the fools.

We respond by bringing in Napolean for a peace deal after sinking his entire frigate fleet with our ironclads.

Stubborn Zulu. We respond by

Zulu glows green. Call me a villian will you! Let's see what you have to say now

That's what I thought! We accept his peace deal because we have other issues.

Most notably this

We hold our breath and fin it fails! Apparently Gandhi is not too fond of Pacal either!

So one Immdeiate threat to victory averted, however another more dire one has emerged.

We are stuck here and have only ONE option I can see.

To start off Gabdhi decimated our entire fleet of ironclads as he has destroyers!

To respond we launched a massive Nuclear Assault against Gandhi's third culture city.

I nuked Bagdad directly, then nuked all the surrounding land. I made sure as much land glowed green as I could.

The effect was

Significant!

Soon Gandhi was willing to talk peace.

We finished Plastics and started Computers which appears to be an unknown tech so far.

I saved here, looking for advice and figuring we have some work cut out for ourselves.

SO my thinking is that we have to get Computers and the Internet. Rebuild our Nukes since I expect Gandhi needs to be burned again, although I do not think I can prevent Culture Bombs in Bagdad. we then need to still get Apollo Build (Pacal has it already) and we need a good Ironworks city (The former khmer capital I think).

Oh yeah, Napolean has taken peace, has Assembly Line, and we likely need to build an army REAL fast to repel the eventual assault!

NOW, can our Supergenius pull one more rabbit of his hat to bring this game home?????

One final question. Will the internet work properly with no tech brokering????

The internet will give you a tech already known by 2 other civs. I don't see how that interferes with brokering at all. Maybe there will be slightly less tech trading going on, but I don't think it would glitch it or anything.

Aren't you worried about "No nukes" resolution? I guess you could just defy it.

Loving the game!

What, no Nukes! Defy it baby, I have alreayd been running 50% culture without too much beaker hits. That specialist Economy game certainly let's you deal with the happiness issue better!

i hope you'd have the time to kill Arabia.
how to kill is the problem, you need tactical nukes 3-4 per city loaded in submarines... or 5 nukes since they will have bomb-bunkers.
one paratrooper per non-coastal, i.e. culture bugger + any other attacker per the coastal city;
a few spies, or carrier w/ 2-3 planes.
nuke the coastal city till there are no defenders, capture amphibiously w/ any attacker.
move the transport into the city. nuke the culture cities... you need visibility to paradrop. so use the spies or the planes.
paradrop next to the city and walk inside.
raze!!
--
edit if you have open border w/ pacal you can scout from there after rebasing an air-ship or 2.

Subs and tactical nukes are the key. Obsessed Tesla might just nuke everyone. If he doesn't win he can make other people's life as glowing as possible. :p

Out of curiosity why are there cottages in your NP city?

Also still a few towns left up around Baghdad by looks of your SS you can slow Gandhi down further with nukes, you can't prevent culture bombs but if you nuke his other culture cities too he will have his work cut out for him in terms of bombing :)lol:)

Get some transports up and take out Nappy too, however I would raze his cities, as while green land is good, this does not apply to glowing land.

Also if you can land tanks on the shore and enough survive, you can attack Baghdad the next turn... forget paratroopers. Use nukes as "artillery"

Nikola Tesla: The Failure of Genius

Sad to say friends, Tesla's quest for victory has ended. Unfortunately the world cannot handle such a superior SuperGenius, and alas our leader fell victum to his own brilliance.

Alas, let us begin this bitter segment.

We start by researching Computers/Fiber Optics/Fussion hoping to keep Gandhi crippled. We also started a stronge effort to build a large navy as invasion force, equipped with sub-carrying tactical Nuke and tanks. Unfortunatelly, Tesla palns were too grandiose with a very limited production and diplomatic situation to back it up!

To boot, the UN reared it's ugly head.

Nay friends, this did not end our game. But it does give us an idea as to how the UN affected our segment.

We did manage to get

First and we started the Internet, figuring such a wonderful thing could certainly elevate our game!

But reality bites and soon we were faced with 2 bitter doses of it

Yes, Gandhi re-established enough of Bagdad to get the culture pumping again,

And

Me thinks Tesla should have killed this guy outright long ago!

Tesla being the ever efficient Madman decided to launch all Nukes against his dreaded enemy

Yes, Zulu glowed green again while we fought off his invasion forces. We actually got a small navy rebuilt!

We soon got this UN vote

Unfortunately Gandhi voted no and he is too big overrule! However one turn later Napolean agreed to peace again.

The second part of our problem

Is getting NO better. With no invasion force yet (Damn Zulu distractions), we opted for the next best thing.

And once again Bagdad is

But just not enough folks.

We were now faced with a rather ticked off Arab here. We faced massive Global warming, massive airstrikes, and massive guided missle strikes, all the while Gandhi destroyed what pathetic navy we had left.

To make matters worse, the UN has screwed us once again

Tesla Stubbornly refuses to be forced out of representation.

Yet, we still managed to make magnificent strides.

And

However, seeing all our towns missled down, as well as mine, pastuers, farms with only a few Zeppalins as defense Tesla only managed one more

The last Nuke as Gandhi finally found our Uranium supply and took it out with missles.

The grim last turn

And finally

Bah, Arab peace, good taste, and the arts has overcome Tesla's OBSESSION with technology and weapondry. What is the world coming too!

Finally, our not so brilliant Madman.

Well danged. Tough rules on emperor that we came pretty damned close to overcoming! Should have wiped out the stupid Zulu.

So much for now. I am considering a few RPCs to play next, when I decide I'll post a pre-game thread.

i'd say you're main reason to failure here was negelting your navy ... you should have built it up way earlier and ran a overseas war on Zulu's supported by a ton of Frigates for bombing the coastal cities down ... possablely vassalizing when your got all the tasty coastal cities

Excellent game Nikola, very difficult rules to play with and the UN didn't do you any favours! If only you had managed to get a fleet over to Arabia to raze just 1 city! Preferably 1 with the UN ;)

I'm also pretty sure that's the lowest score i've seen you get! :O

Well played, mad. Those early game wars seemed to really set you back. Defensive conflicts like that can be tough to come back from. And Napoleon of the Zulu is just a ridiculous warmonger of an enemy to have nipping at your heels. As always, fun to read, even in defeat.
