Imperium Offtopicum: Ab Antiquo

Because real life's a batch, the Update has been moved to Friday night (Friday morning for those in the States), so you all get approximately 24 hours extra to deal with your wars and stuff.

No, they're not allowed to claim while at war. If they made peace before this turn ends though I will count their claims.

By the way, thanks for the summaries Ravus. :)

I'm a neat freak so i like summaries! :p I hope it doesn't bother anyone, i would just be writing it out as personal notes for myself if i didn't post it.

Well... Greece has offered peace. But unless they sort something out then their last attempts at peaceful claims would only cause more double claims... both are trying to claim southern Greece. While Constantinople would clash with Judaica in Cyprus and Greece would clash with Troy in Crete. So i'm thinking it will only get worse.

Diplomacy
Greece offers peace with Constantinople in exchange for ceding Macedon. Whether this will be accepted and how peaceful expansion will be handled is still not clear

Illyria accepts the gracious Roman Defence Pact. (I believe you are right. A agreement that included dual war declarations would be more like an alliance and would need more trust to set up then most will have at the start of the game) Would Trade Access basically be allowing us to move our armies through each others lands or would it have some other use?

Illyria also publically signs a None-Agression Pact with Troy

Omega leader of the Gauls declares he will shed blood for the land currently claimed by both him and Civplayah

Claims
Askum has withdrawn it's double claim with Judaica and expanded eastward instead.

CelticEmpire of the Steppes how much of Russia are you seeking to claim as i will be expanding Eastward towards you next

Ravus Sol raised a good point on alliances and diplomatic agreements so I want to clear it up now:

Most diplomatic actions are for roleplay only. This includes trade agreements.

A Right of Passage agreement allows the countries to move troops through each other's land. Remember though that if you conquer a province by attacking from another player's territory, if that territory is not connected to your capital (by land or sea) then the territory goes to the country you're attacking from.

Defensive Pacts (DPs) and Non-Aggression Pacts (NAPs) are NOT considered full alliances. If your victory condition refers to alliances, it means a full military alliance, where the both parties are obliged to declare war when one goes to war.

Upon consideration, the Roman Republic offers Illyria trade access, right of passage and a defensive pact, though we hope that the Confederation will inform us prior to moving troops onto Italian soil.

I offer a Non-Agression Pact with Troy and a defensive pact with Illyria
I also offer a free trade agreement with anyone in the area, including Byzantium.

I am once again offering peace to Byzantium. He gets Macodonia and everything north, I get everything south (In Greece). Its the fairest way to solve it and will be the only way to guarantee peace.

As our commercial empire expands, we shall look forward to our acquisitions and we refuse to sign any treaties with the invading Greeks who have already threatened to invade our territories, and they have also offered the Hittites an Alliance against our City. This behaviour is unacceptable.

Yes, but I'd rather not. I would like to expand, however, and if you take those two provinces, I would have nowhere else to go.

I will give you one chance, one last chance, to back off from Gaulish lands before I send Rangers up to your islands. Do you understand me?

Agreed. In the eyes of the God-King the Right of Passage is just there to move troops about if one of us gets attacked.

The defensive pact is useless ilduce as you are allready at war and a DP is an agreement to go to war if an enemy declares war on you or your DP ally. As you are allready in a state of war and negotiating peace a DP does nothing at this current time.

Instead i will accept a Non-Agression Pact with you.

just pontus euxinus

Well Pontus Euxinus is the Black Sea. So i assume you want the little bit of land surrounding it? Any bits in particuler?

I have my reasons. A NAP doesn't do anything except guarantee peace between the two signers. A defensive pact guarantee's peace for both parties against others. I am trying to negotiate peace with Byzantium, if that happens I want a permanent peace. Besides he made claims and attacked me, and hasn't logged on since then so is unaware of the actual rules. I have requested peace and I think he might accept peace.

hmmmm i see what you mean ilduce. And if you were at peace it might be okay. But as you are at war how does it work? If anyone else wants to chime in with how they see a DP forming while one nation is at war please do so

is it;

a) asking the other person to declare war on their enemy

or

b) asking the other person to protect them from other threats while they deal with their enemy

-

Well lets see what Darth does when he gets back online.

Signing a defensive pact whilst at war is very shaky business altogether. I wouldn't expect anyone to do it.

Please amend my submission to include increasing my army quality to VIII (8), rather than VI (6).

Alright! :goodjob: Death to the greeks, I'll stomp you with my Martian Giant Death Robot!!

*Ahem* I still am the GM and can take the blasted thing off your hands if you misbehave…
