SORRY. I NO LONGER SUPPORT THIS MOD

As the name of this mod suggests, this mod replaces every leader in Beyond the Sword with somebody else in the history of that nation (e.g. Wang Kon is replaced with Sejong and Park). I also incorporated Gurra's Trait Pack (though Pacifist is replaced by Tsentom1's Influential trait.

The inspiration came to me when I was browsing through the Civilization III customization forum during the spring. I came across the development thread for a mod called The Mod of Modness, made by a chap called "georgestow". In his mod (in addition to many other features), every standard leader in Conquests is replaced (e.g. Queen Elizabeth with Winston Churchill). Going with that idea, I decided to make a mod replacing every leader in Beyond the Sword.

Oddly enough, I actually had the idea since late spring/early summer: it was only until late November that I actually began working on it!

Thus, without further adieu, Totally Replaced Leaders:

Traits
As stated above, I have incorporated Gurra's Trait Pack (minus Pacifist) so I could add more leaders. For those not familiar with it, here are his descriptions for these traits:

Secretive (Sec)
+2 Espionage/City
50% Faster Production of Spy
Double Production Speed of Intelligence Agency, Security Bureau

Pacifist (Paf)
+25% Great People Birth Rate
+50 Faster Production of Missionary

Seafaring (Sfa)
Free Promotion (Navigation I, Navigation II) for Naval Units
50% Faster Production of Caravel, Galleon

Raider (Rad)
+100% Great General Emergence
Free Promotion (City Raider I, City Raider II) for Melee Units

Agrarian (Agr)
+1 Food on Plots with 4 Food

Scientific (Sci)
+10% Research
Double Production Speed of Observatory, Laboratory

Nationalistic (Nat)
+100% Great General Emergence inside Cultural Borders
+50% National Wonder Production

However, due to the fact that I couldn't find a use for Pacifist, I have replaced that trait with Tsentom's Infuential trait;

Influential:
+100% Golden Age Length
Stronger Vassals

The Leaders
The main point of this mod. Each leader has a unique trait combination, as I didn't like the use of >2 leaders using the same traits (thanks to Tsentom1's Thomas's War)

New Civilizations

Due to time constraints, I could only really copy the civilizations from CIV Gold (with the exception of Canada, which is a lite version of Canada Deluxe), though I tried to give the leaders different personalities and/or traits. However, Austria has a changed UU and a modified UB.

Australia
Leader: Curtin (Nat/Pro)
UU: Imperial Forces (Replaces Marine; starts with March, Ambush)
UB: Athletics Complex (Replaces Colosseum; +3 :culture:, +1 :), can turn 2 citizens into Artists, +1 :) from Hit Singles)

Austria
Leader: Maria Theresia (Cre/Org)
UU: Hussar (Replaces Cuirassier, starts with Pinch)
UB: Opera House (Replaces Theatre, +1 :gp:, +2 :culture:
Starting Techs: Hunting, Mining

Brazil
Leader: Pedro II (Cre/Fin)
UU: Pracinha (Replaces Infantry, -20 :hammers: to produce, +10% city defence)
UB: Estadio de Futebol (Replaces Colosseum; +3 :culture:, +1 :)
Starting Techs: Mysticism, Agriculture

Canada
Leader 1: MacDonald (Ind/Imp)†
Leader 2: Trudeau (Cha/Org)
UU: Canada Corps (Replaces Infantry; +1 :move:, starts with March)
UB: Microwave Tower (Replaces Broadcast Tower, +1 :), +50% :culture:)
Starting Techs: Fishing, Hunting

Israel
Leader 1: David (Spi/Exp)
Leader 2: Solomon (Spi/Cre)
UU: Maccabee (Replaces Swordsman; +1 :strength:)
UB: Bet Cholim (Replaces Hospital, +2 :health:, -20 :hammers: cost)
Starting Techs: Mysticism, The Wheel

Maasai
Leader: Mbatian (Spi/Cha)‡‡
UU: Moran (Replaces Warrior, +10 :hammers: cost, +100% vs animals, +25% vs Melee units
UB: Group Ranch (Replaces Granary; +3 :health: with Cattle)

Interesting idea... Although it would be nice to play with the old leaders too.

Also, can we have some screenshots? That always helps boost ratings. :D

This is a really cool idea! Sounds like you were able to make the mod pretty quickly once you started working on it.

Oh, and sorry for stealing your reserved spot, Farsight. :) But you probably should have reserved it sooner...

Anyhow, good work.

Is anyone going to download this?

Hey, Farsight, just had a question - who did you use for Phillip Augustus and Solon in your mod? I'm thinking of adding them as new leaders for WoL, and I just wanted to know what leaderhead art is available for potential addition into WoL.

I downloaded your mod yesterday. I'll try to incorporate it into my game after I'm done with my current game. Thanks for your work!

I used cfkane's Frog Prince* and Oedipus leaderheads respectively.

*Though I modified the background

I wouldn't do that just yet: I'm making a patch for this right now, so I suggest you play this after you patch this.

I shall update this mod as soon as someone teaches me how to make one of those installers for mods.

It's a very big mod.

Enjoy the new leaders, new faces, new civs ... I'm wondering if you've rebalanced any parts of the actual game. I'm noticing other civs being far more aggressive at settling, and at settling in patterns to obstruct my own settlement, than they've previously been in BTS at the same difficulty patterns. They seem to settle more cities faster than one could normally do without collapsing into financial ruin, and they seem to work harder at outflanking me - settling right along my border to obstruct me from getting into unsettled territory.

I need to play a custom game where the other leaders are all the foxes. Especially Dido.

i admire the idea of creation & customization. as i don't have free time to deal with such things, i can just admire. my free time only lets me to play civ4.
and now i want to make some comments for this.

traits : some seem unbalanced.
Especially agrarian is weird! a city with 3 food resources would skyrocket pop in early game with hereditary rule.
Raider is also overpowered. Noone can defend against such units. Secretive and scientific are very powerful but i cannot say overpowered.

the ideas behind these traits are fine but the extras are huge. these will dramatically effect the game.

UU/UBs :
maasai UU is weak for high levels. at least if you haven't made it +10 hammer, it could be ok.
canada corps are overpowered. they move 2 and start with march. 1of the extras alone would be normal.
opera house giving free GP birth rate is weird. this is against the idea of specialists.
