Google Earth Civilization 2.0.0 coming soon

And there are a lot of civs without wonders, of course. But this new iteration is becoming more and more interesting. For the first time two civs have two capital cities.

What, where?

And Petra is going to be fun, I'm weighing up exactly how and where to put it in.

mmhh...geography would suggest adding it to Arabia.

What, where?

It's only a couple of civs, but now according to Civ 3, 4 and 5 the Celts and Ethiopia have two city names that are used as capital cities. In fact I haven't added Entremont yet
because I only got Civ3 Complete a few months ago, so technically the Celts in fact should have three capitals. :D
the Celts have Entremont, Bibratce and Edinburgh - and Ethiopia have Aksum and Addis Ababa

mmhh...geography would suggest adding it to Arabia.

Yea, but I'm also trying by timeline as well, and that makes it a lot more difficult. I'll take your suggestion into consideration though.

Google Civilization 2.0.5 - Danish Layer

The 2.0.5 layer is out! Denmark is a small layer but the polygon is a surprise, even for me making it. Check it out.

Hey Chris, I'm not touching anything of your mods until the next patch is in.

Because I'm on XP. CIV sucks everything out of my can as it is.

I'd like to first of all apologize for my absence last week, in the past few weeks I've actually become more involved with a community group in CFC for modding Civilization V, for this reason the continuing work of Google Civilization will be affected, but exactly how I can't be certain.
Secondly, I'd also like to make it up to everyone by releasing TWO layers today!

Google Civilization 2.0.0 - German Layer
Google Civilization 2.0.4 - Polynesian Layer

GoogleCiv204.jpg

...including the 2.0.4 layer, Polynesia.

There is a known issue with the Moai Statues plot, after looking for an hour on Google Earth the actual statues, which I find very odd, can't be seen. I'm sure that they must be there so I'll keep looking in the meantime, and when I do I'll update the plot.

Is there any way to add some sort of marker in google earth? Because I had a hard time spotting Deutsch-Neuginea, and some sort of visual help would be nice.
(and again I learned something new :), didn't know we also had a colony there)

The polynesia layer behaves for me so "funny" that I can't make out where the actual territory is :(.
(not your fault, I know)

Do you mean you want to change the tag to have an icon on it? Yes there is.
It's a very basic process; firstly find the tag you want to edit in the layer in the place you hold the GoogleCiv layers, then right click on the tag and click Properties. (By now you know that each Possession tag is a transparent label with no icon to mark its exact position. The setup of this tag makes it very difficult for the mouse to hover over and click on directly.) The Properties box will appear, with a button on the top right hand corner (or it could be left, I'm in a net cafe so I'm working off of memory.) with no picture or text on it, click on it, it takes you to the icon selection box. From there you can select an icon from the plot and its colour.
A small note, don't be alarmed when the tag changes its position when you introduce an icon. Without any icon the tag sits on the middle of the point, when an icon is introduced the icon becomes placed in the middle of the point and the label is displaced to its side.

As for Polynesia, could you please provide another picture. I doubt that this is the problem, but I confered with Pouakai about the polygon and for all intents and purposes it is accepted that the polygon is accurate to what is known as the Polynesia Triangle.

Ah, thanks, works :).
But me a good idea to do that by default for some of the smaller things.

I think it works directly after I clicked it, but when I try to zoom or rotate the globe it gets totally crazy :dunno::

Mmmhh...I think it has something to do with the size of the whole thing. The position of the layer in the atmosphere is dependent on its size, and if it's bigger, then it's higher in the atmosphere. Which gives then funny results while you scroll and zoom.
e.g. England and Germany are relatively small, therefore the layer is close to the ground, and it works for me, but America and Polynesia are large, and both don't work for me.

...wait...China works...shouldn't if this was right.
mmhh... chris, what monitor resolution do you have?

Okay, checked it now with a higher resolution (1600*1200), and that is definitely not the cause. Just thought were might have been some problems due to the space on the screen or the scaling, but that's not the case.

:dunno: but like said: If it's only me, then it's totally fine :).

As you can see the title has changed; the first release of the most up to date layer will release. I won't say which, but a Google Civilization 2.1.0 layer will be released next week. WOOT! and such.
:banana::band::dance:
Before I do though I think it's best to provide an update to all the layers out right now. Fortunately only four of the layers need updating, so I can provide each of these in separate zip files as attachments here or as a full collection on the CFC Download Database. You can view the screenshots from the full package link provided.
