I was thinking about the lightning attack you used for the Asha'man, and a new one where she conjures a tornado and sends it at the enemy. :D

Sounds good. :)
The lightning I used for the Asha'man, if you would like to use the same effect, was one of Kinboat's spell units that he created a little while back. I just set it up as a multi-unit using SBB. I changed the frame size to 240 (to give the attack more range) with Civ3FlcEdit, and did the same for the lightning. Then if I recall correctly, I positioned the lightning -40 on the y axis so it would always strike that distance directly in front of my unit. I originally had the lightning further away, but it caused a visual error, so I bumped it back to -40. I believe there's also a tornado unit around here somewhere, so you could do something similar with that. Or of course you could come up with your own method and forget everything I just said. ;)

Yeah, it's still in the production phase. And sadly it might remain that way for a short while. I've been really slammed with work lately (thus the delay on the King's Life Guard... and TJ's Gnoll Gunman for D&D), and Alerum has had some things come up recently that have caused him to take a step back.

I posted this over in the unit creation forum a while back, but since no one responded:p, I thought I'd move it here. It really should have been posted here anyway. :mischief: This was in response to a debate over whether there should be an Aes Sedai unit, since the Three Oaths prevent Aes Sedai from fighting, except against Shadowspawn or darkfriends, or in the last defense of her or her Warder's life.

I was thinking that the Aes Sedai would actually be a double unit, the Warder and Aes Sedai. The Warder would be the normal attack, since they don't have any oaths against that, and the Aes Sedai could have a bombard animation. To keep that from killing, just don't check Lethal Land/Sea bombardment in the editor.

Comments? Ideas?

That's a perfect idea. I was thinking of just the Aes Sedai and flag her as defense and then give her only a 1 attack and with good defense and defensive bombardment, and she would never make a move against anything except in self defense. But the Warder added to it could make it good for both.

Hello all, I'm new to these forums, I joined to post this:

I'm currently working (along with my team) on a Wheel of Time mod for the strategy game Rome: Total War.

Our website is at www.wot-tw.co.uk
Though at the time of my posting this there is an error and it cannot be accessed. A temporary (not up to date) site is availiable at: this address

Our forumn is here:
totalwar.org

I've been searching out other WoT mods. I believe that there is great potential for mods like ours to share info/files/research and stuff ;)

My first important question is with regard to permission. At present, we don't have permission to make this mod from Tor. I don't know if we really need permission, as we're doing it for free, but I've heard of LOTRs mods being shut down so I would like to change that. I would like to know if you guys do, and if you do, can I have an email for someone to contact?

Thx in advance, Myrddraal

Myrddraal, as far as I know WoT is pretty much free game. I've played on several MUDs based on WoT in the past, and there was never any talk of permission being needed. On the other hand, I tried making a MUD based on the work of R.E. Feist and that got shut down as soon as we put it up on mudconnect.

A good idea, but I don't know how you could set it up. As far as I know, the bombard animation is just the first attack animation in the sequence (Attack A). So if you wanted to use the unit to bombard you would have to set up that animation as the first in the rotation, which would have the Aes Sedai attacking before the Warder in all the regular combat situations as well.

Myrddraal,
I've never played Total War before, but I scanned through your previews and it looked good. I might have to pick it up now. :) Also, welcome to CFC. If you got any questions or ideas, post away.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. :hmm:

Ok, how about this :p : have three attacks, the first two sword attacks from the Warder, the third an attack from the Aes Sedai. After all, by then she has been attacked, and mabye even hurt, so that sould sort out the Oaths. ;)

Hey CamJH, I wanted to suggest giving this kings guard fella a mace instead of the traditional sword, if its true to the source material. You've done quite a few good sword units, but they say mace is the spice of life. Well, if you're a stalker.

I've got a couple mace & martel props lying around, but I'm planning on using them along with some battle axes for Trolloc units coming up. I'd be ok with using one of them for this unit, but it might not be good to have them carrying the same weaponry as the shadowspawn. Plus, I've already got him fitted with a shield and spear. :p

I'll probably darken the grey on the shield to add a little more contrast, but other than that I'll probably keep as is.

looks REALLY good!

Not all Aes Sedai have warders

SO....

The ones with warders can follow the above. The ones without could follow...

That's just my opinion on the matter....

Yes good Tzar Sasha. Make sure the ones with warders are ajahs that would have them, like green or blue. Red would never have one.

That's good :) . Having more than one Ajah would also give the Aes Sedai civ more variety. Perhaps we could even have a Black Ajah :hmm: , used by the Shadow civ, that can attack since they have gotten rid of the Three Oaths. ;)

Is no one going to respond to my idea? :( ;)

What I really posted about is to ask whether it is possible to have an animation for rebaseing  . As to how this relates to WoT :mischief: , if you've been reading along as we post you would know that as a part of the Asha'mans' travelling ability the unit would have the ability to rebase. Since the other half is airdropping and you can have an animation for that, I was just wondering. :)
