Rocky III: A decent film, though in no way could be compared to the first two Rocky films.

Rocky IV: Really starting to go downhill, dodgy story, badly told, all the hallmarks of a bog standard film.

Rocky V: Oh dear.

Rocky Balboa: Much better! Felt more like classic Rocky - a homage to the first film in many ways. The final fight scenes were very humbling and I could almost feel a tear coming to my eye.

Prometheus

Go see it!

Just seen First Blood. While it goes over-the-top (not in a bad way, however), I think it portrays quite well how psychologically wounded some soldiers are when returning from war zones. Stallone doesn't say much during the film, and this I feel helps you more closely feel what Rambo himself is feeling just by watching what he's doing. Actions speak louder than words, as they say.

I thought of watching Inland Empire. Anyone seen it? Views?

I found it to be a major letdown in comparison to all his previous work, but then again, I've only watched it once, so I might change my mind.

Blue Lagoon the awykening 2012

4 of 10, the older one, what was it called, was better
Cameroons Sanctum

Assault girlz with meisa from Spacebattleshippyamatoo
In the aftermath of global thermonuclear war, three battle tested women wage war in a virtual reality videogame against giant mutant sandwhales. All of them seek to kill "Madara Sunakujira" the game's end boss but find that despite their high levels, are unable to engage it alone as they wish, forcing them to form a party to defeat it together. "Gray," a sniper who travels flying in her own plane, "Lucifer," a black dress wearing girl who can turn into a giant crow and uses magic spells, "Colonel," a woman in burgundy armor who uses an FN FAL with M203, and "Jäger," a drifter who uses a powerful sniper rifle and relies on his luck (despite the Game Master telling him his luck stat is very low). The four defeat Madara, but unfortunately for Jäger, only the first person to turn in the quest gets the points, all the girls having flying transports while he's left on foot. In anger Jäger shoots them all down and declares himself a "player killer," and all of them engage in a fire fight.

Watched Royal Wedding. It was pretty good. 4/5

Watched Lolita, The Killing and 2001: A Space Odyssey on the big screen as part of the Amsterdam Kubrick Expo. I'm going to see all other movies by Kubrick on the big screen as well, as part of the same event.

I think one sign of a good movie is that you notice something new each time you watch it. Recently I purchased an old favorite, Jesus Christ, Superstar, online and watched it. There's a scene where Judas is agonizing over whether he should turn Jesus in to the temple authorities. Suddenly, across the ridgeline come these huge tanks (OK, not historically acurate), representing the threatening Roman power, and they drive Judus off to the temple. What I noticed this time, was that these "Roman" tanks were - Centurians!

I went to Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter with some friends. Had just the right combo of badass and ridiculousness to be entertaining. My advice would be to wait for the DVD and watch it with some witty friends.

Watched Tripoli. Even Maureen O'Hara couldn't save it from being awful. 1/5

Hero (Jet Li, 2002) Director's Cut
Avg. Rating: 4.8 / 5 (based on 25 ratings)
Plot: Jet Li stars in this visually stunning martial arts epic where a fearless warrior (Jet Li) rises up to defy an empire and unite a nation! This nameless soldier embarks on a mission of revenge against the fearsome army that massacred his people.
Overview: At the height of China's Warring States period, the country was divided into seven kingdoms: Qin, Zhao, Han Wei, Yan, Chu and Qi. For years, the separate kingdoms fought ruthlessly for supremacy. As a result, the populace endured decades of death and suffering.
The Kingdom of Qin was the most determined of all. The Qin King was obsessed with conquering all of China and becoming her first Emperor. He had long been the target of assassins throughout the other six states. Of all the would-be killers, none inspired as much fear as the three legendary assassins, Broken Sword, Flying Snow and Sky.
To anyone who defeated the three assassins, the King of Qin promised great power, mountains of gold and a private audience with the King himself. But defeating the killers is a near impossible task. For ten years no one came close to claiming the prize. So when the enigmatic county sheriff, Nameless, came to the palace bearing the legendary weapons of the slain assassins, the King was impatient to hear his story. Sitting in the palace, only ten paces from the King, Nameless told his extraordinary tale:
For ten years, Nameless studied the way of the sword and resolved to challenge the three assassins. Using the secrets of swordsmanship; Nameless defeated the mighty Sky in a furious showdown. Following this initial victory, he destroyed the famed duo of Flying Snow and Broken Sword. This time using a weapon far more devastating than his sword - their extraordinary love for each other.
The King hung on every detail of this curious story. But then something most unexpected happened - the King has a different story to tell of how Nameless really came to sit there, face to face with the King!
It appears that everything was not so simple. In the centre of the intrigue sits Nameless -a solitary ranger and the King of Qin - the ruler of the Kingdom, with only ten steps between them. Within those ten steps holds an earth-shattering tale of love, honour and duty, a story that moves beyond the reaches of history. A story about what it means to be a HERO.
To bring to life this epic tale of love, loyalty, jealousy and intrigue, HERO assembled an unprecedented collection of Asia's hottest talent. International martial arts superstar Jet Li heads the stellar cast as Nameless, the enigmatic county sheriff who earns his audience with the mighty King of Qin. Hong Kong megastars Tony Leung Chiu Wai and Maggie Cheung Man Yuk, fresh from their award-winning performances in Wong Kar Wai's 'In the Mood for Love', reunite to play the assassins Broken Sword (Leung) and Flying Snow (Cheung). Zhang Ziyi, who has gone from strength to strength since her critically acclaimed debut in 'The Road Home' will play Broken Sword's devoted servant, Moon, whilst distinguished veteran Chen Daoming plays the powerful King of Qin. Rising star and martial artist Donnie Yen will play the third assassin, Sky.
