Some teams are having trouble with their rate of progress in 8. Part of this is due to drop-outs, and part is due to teams not adhering to a 72 hour cycle, or losing the plot on their rosters. For the record, teams who are still playing have achieved an average of 3 days per 10 turns since 850 AD. I'm loathe to guillotine the game whlie several teams are still playing, and still some way from world conquest.
I also have a concern that C-IV will release in a few days, and that will no doubt distract quite a lot of players, making the sign-up process for a new Civ3 game a little difficult.
So I think we need to delay SGOTM 9 by a couple of weeks to let some teams finish SGOTM 8 and to let the initial C-IV fuss die down. So we could start pre-game discussions at the end of October, get the teams signed up, then start playing mid-November.
How does that sound?
