Italy became a nation-state belatedly - in 1861 when the city-states of the peninsula, along with Sardinia and Sicily, were united under King Victor EMMANUEL. An era of parliamentary government came to a close in the early 1920s when Benito MUSSOLINI established a Fascist dictatorship. His disastrous alliance with Nazi Germany led to Italy's defeat in World War II. A democratic republic replaced the monarchy in 1946 and economic revival followed. Italy was a charter member of NATO and the European Economic Community (EEC). It has been at the forefront of European economic and political unification, joining the European Monetary Union in 1999. Persistent problems include illegal immigration, the ravages of organized crime, corruption, high unemployment, and the low incomes and technical standards of southern Italy compared with the more prosperous north.

Italian troops declare war on Switzerland! All military (2 armor and 1 mech inf) moving to liberate Switzerland!

Today (Turn 5), Italy liberated Switzerland during a 1 day Blitzkrieg to secure all mayor cities and airports. Allthough receiving heavy losses Italy managed to take control of Switzerland for good.

OOC - Oh if you are waiting a turn to use your units to attack don't you don't have too.

Italy is moving to liberate another country. This time the chosen ones are the people of SLOVENIA!

Turn 7:
Italy liberates Slovenia! A summary of the battle below:
Italy invades Slovenia with the 2nd Mechanised Infantry, the 1st Armour Division, the 1st Close Air Support Squadron and the 2nd Close Air Support Squadron

The 1st Armour Division strikes at the Slovenian mechanised infantry, defeating them in a particularly nasty battle. The 2nd Mechanised Infantry are met and defeated by 2 infantry divisions, for a terrible price.

The CAS Squadrons fly overhead, dropping cluster bombs on the defenders to help the armour division. A number of SAMs in an artillery division destroy the 2nd CAS Squadron, but the 1st plays chicken with the artillery, and wins after a brave show from the artillery.

The battle is won, and the 1st CAS Squadron is becoming known as the Dare Devils...

Iceye: I am pretty sure that ATO is an allaince, therfore making everyone tied together through MPP's.
