Chung We welcome you to the 1650 Debates. This first debate will be in a round-table discussion format. I will ask the questions and direct each question to a specific candidate. After that candidate has made a statement the others are able to add their thoughts. The rules set forward by the debate commission outlines that candidates must be polling at at least 10 percent in the nation before the debate to qualify. Four candidates have met that requirement and we are joined today by Liberal Party candidate Tserehuu Sharavdorj, Asian Unity Party nominee Kublai Khan, Labor Party candidate Mao Tse-Tung, and Mahatma Gandhi who is representing both the Peace and Green parties. Welcome gentlemen.
Let us start with a question directed to you Mr. Khan. The war against the Chinese so far hasnt yielded many results. They have recaptured all the territory we took from them and have occupied additional UAS cities. With our armed forces depleted you still call for a war to drive the Chinese out of Asia, please explain.
Khan I have been to the front. I have witnessed battles, I have seen our proud men attack the mulatto Chinese and I have watched as the vicious foreigners responded. They have captured our cities and they have murdered our President. There are many now who suggest we accept peace and run on home with our tails between our legs, this is outright cowardice and those who advocate this shame our mighty nation and our proud people. We will betray the memory of the men who have fought and died for the cause of Asian Unity if we submit to the enemy now. How are you going to tell the parents who lost their sons in Nanking that they died in vain? -that their death served no purpose. I for one hope we never have to say that.
Gandhi Their death did serve no purpose. What is Asian Unity? Genghis Khan and now Kublai Khan think we can unify Asia through death and destruction, all this will do is create bitter enemies out of one-time friends and divide our continent and humanity. Unity is a goal that can be achieved through peace, and only through peace. All of mankind are our brothers and we must treat them as such.
Sharavdorj The war against China was undertaken for reasons that many feel are justified, many others however feel this war is a crime. All I know is that the war is a failure and thus far has done more harm than good. I did not come here to talk poorly of late President Genghis Khan, and certainly not to talk poorly of our boys lost so far in the war but it does a greater injustice to all to continue an unwinnable war which will only result in more death. Lately the Chinese have shown themselves to be a fair people, a peaceful people. They have offered to end this war and restore peace between our two cultures; this I feel is gracious and desirable. This is the wrong war at the wrong time.
Chung The next question is for Mr. Gandhi. With the world erupting in war and aggressive nations attacking peaceful ones with no cause, how successful do you feel a policy of peace will be?
Gandhi Connie, the question we must ask first is how successful a policy of war will be. From the beginning of time we have seen the cycle of violence repeat itself over and over again. Just look at the Europeans and Israelis. Violence begets violence. With thousands of years of history to prove that wars will only create more wars I find it foolish to consider ourselves safe behind tanks and bombs. True peace has not been tried and with the failure of war it is the only option we can consider.
Tse-Tung The cycle of violence has been caused by greedy capitalists. As can be seen in the recent attack of Israel on the peaceful EUSSR, the invasion of South America by Australia, and our own attack of China. All motivated by ills of capitalism, greed, nationalism and such. Of course it is always the poor who are sent off to fight the battles as a popular musical group from the Ozzy Khan era once said, Politicians hide themselves away, they only started the war, why should they go out and do fight, they leave that all to the poor.
Sharavdorj Peace is always the best course, but unfortunately it is not always possible. As we have seen over the past five years aggressor nations such as Australia can attack viciously with no warning or provocation. When innocent nations can be conquered in such a fashion and when no one is safe there can be no peace. It is clear that the world is in danger from the Australian juggernaut and the only way to secure peace is to stop the thunder from down under.
Chung Since we are running out of time I have one last question for everyone to respond to. There have been some vocal promises by Australia to defend their Chinese ally by attacking UAS. How does everyone respond to the threat of Australian invasion?
Khan I do not put much faith in those reports. Simply smoke and mirrors to try and convince the Asian people to forget the Chinese in favor of a new enemy. Right now we are dealing with the Chinese, they have occupied vast tracts of land in Asia, they have proven to be the greatest threat to our security.
Gandhi It may happen if we do not act soon. Violence begets violence, we attacked the Chinese without provocation and now the Australians have stepped in to defend their ally. The only way to protect ourselves from both the Australians and Chinese is to make out a peace deal. No matter what we have to sacrifice now, it will be less than the sacrifice of eternal war.
Tse-Tung It looks as if the powerful Australian capitalist pigs are out for world domination. They represent all that is evil in this world. Their free-market economy ruthlessly crushing the poor worker classes all over the world. If that isnt enough for them now they viciously conquer innocent nations all over the world.
Sharavdorj The Australian threat is the greatest our culture has ever been faced with. All other problems are merely a diversion from the danger presented by the Australians. They have built up their military unchecked for countless years and with no opposition have taken all of South American from the Zulus. Once a powerful nation the Zulus have lost half of their land in less than 5 years. Now they threaten us, one can only imagine what they have planned for us. For the future of our culture and society it is essential that they be stopped by whatever means necessary. China, Zulu, WAAR, Europe, Mali, all are at risk from the Australian menace, I propose a world alliance be formed to shut down the Australians once and for all.
Chung Thank you all for your time tonight.
