Bug in BTS

I am up to date on Patches and am using the BUG Mod.
Units will start with whatever upgrade attributes which vary by City. I cannot select the upgrade any longer. As an example, Musketmen will usually start with * and **, I cannot select gunpowder. I have no ability to even see the upgrade options.
This just started so I leap to the conclusion I picked up a bug or virus somehow.
The question is: is there anyway to fix this short of uninstall/reinstall?

Sounds like you have the "auto-promote" option turned on. Go to regular options menu and turn it off. It is not a BUG feature (I think)

That was exactly it. No idea how that got checked as I haven't revised Options in forever. Didn't even know that was an option (why in God's Name would anyone ever check that?)
Anyway you saved me a night of aggravation reinstalling and getting everything sorted out.
