barbarians ignores unescorted settlers, anyone know a fix?

Are you sure the barbarian can see your settler and has no more attractive target to pursue?

sorry, i meant ai settlers, as i have not even tried to send settlers without some backup!

just see way to many ai settlers without Escorts, setting up cities in territory, where my scout have just been and seen lots of barbarians.

I haven't noticed this problem, but I find it ok, yes - its a bit dumb, but balance wise it works. Lazy programming problem maybe.
Yet it wouldn't be fun to find AI after 100 turns still with one city because barbs captured all of his settlers. Something like this was happening sometimes in Civ 3, it was a bit dissappointing to find AIs on other continent still stuck in stone age.

It would be best to code AI to always send pairs of settler/escorts.

as title says, anyone know a fix to the problem, as its very annoying feature?

You want to have a settler fixed, sure I know a guy that knows a guy that fixes such problems :)

Barbarians capture AI settlers just fine. Of course there can be a lucky one, the barbs have to see it first to pursue it.

in the previous expansion, i did not see this that often, most of the settlers was escorted, but some where taken by barbarians still and at times, you saw one moving alone, but it would almost never reach its location.

in this expansion, there is way more settlers moving alone then before and barbarians do seem to ignore the most of these, but some are taken, but not as many as before, as i see lots of camps which show no signs of captured settlers nor workers, while in the last expansion, you would often see some captives in most camps.

i hope they get this fixed, as its annoing to see ai settler moving to a good location, just because the barbarians ignore them, could understand it, if they reached this place, with Escort which managed to defend the settler on the trip.

I've definitely "rescued" settlers from barbarian camps before, so I think they do capture them. I also think that settlers are the lowest priority target for barbarians now, so, if you can see the settler, and the barbarian, likely the barbarian can see your military unit, and the settler, and your military unit has the higher priority. I've never seen a settler captured, just found them in camps, they've been captures "in the fog."

as i say, i have seen settlers captured, but not as many as now, but if priority is the issue, then i will search on that issue to fix this :)

thanks

The barbarians also ignore unescorted settlers of the human player; at least in the demo version.

I don't think this is a mass occurence. At least in my games I don't think I have ever seen an unescorted settler BUT I have actually seen AI settlers captured by barbarians, so it seems everything is working as designed.
