Well, guys, you chose Veii for the FP. But there's one small problem...

The Iros have Veii.

So a new site is needed.

Four were listed in this discussion thread: Odawara, Roma, En'Gha, and Doomsville.

Or, we can wait until we attack Iroquois and take Veii, or we can just not build it for the enxt 10 days...

Vote for 48 Hours. If no single vote carries either a Majority or an overriding plurality (i.e. the leader is 3-2 over the next closest option) (excluding Abstains) then we will have a 24 Hour Poll to decide the final winner.

Odawara is central for the entire continent, productive, the capital of a province, and under our control. The palace could be built there easily and would reduce corruption throughout the productive Edo region, while also helping to soften the blow that France and the Iroquois would experiance if we conquered them. It's also the third most important (third in line for capital) city. So VOTE ODAWARA!

Note that "kittens" can be a euphimism for represenatives who don't vote for Odawara.

Even if we do get Veii it will be crippled. It will have resistance, no improvements, no productivity, and a small population. Even after the huge number of turns (it was 97 for Rome last time) it would take to build it wouldn't help at all if we try to conquer north or west. The same is true of Rome and Doomsville.

It seems to me that Odawara presents the best coverage for our existing cities, while allowing room for moderate expansion though short wars with clear objectives.

Roma, Doomsville and Veii(pending) are options that would require renewed aggression against the Iroquois to maximize their value. And based on the recent cultural gains by the Iroquois, I am not sure if we would want to risk our FP in a culturally unstable region.

Can anyone enlighten me on our cultural standing against the Iroquois?

I want my summer house, er, forbidden palace in Roma. Wouldn't it be great to mock Caesar's friends and allies from Roma?

I didn't stop 'cleaning my gun' to save the kittens, so why should they affect my choice now?

(Still voting for Odawara)

I'll repost my (actually CivAssist's) calculations (slightly updated).

81 gold corrupted for Odawara, 87 for Roma, 82 for Doomsville, and 83 for En'Gha, compared to the current 131 gold

Astericks mark the changed cities. My figures in the discussion thread may actually be better, since I think we'll eventually get rid of Swazi.

Odawara and En'Gha could build the FP rather quickly, Doomsville would take a moderate amount of time, and Roma would take a long time.

I'm currently undecided between Odawara and Doomsville.

Odawara is the best place in current situation, not much to say there.
Vote Odawara!

Seems to be going pretty strongly for Odawara, but let me make my argument for Doomsville or Roma.

The current corrupted gold is only a part of the picture. The cities most affected by the Odawara location are already near size 12. The cities affected by Doomsville or Roma are mostly size 4-8. When the Roma and HAI-RANDO cities have acheived maximum size after Railroads the corruption savings of gold will be larger if the FP is placed in Doomsville than the Odawara location.

A secondary benefit from either Doomsville or Roma is the cultural push against the former Roman cities in the area. This leads to the thrid benefit, if any Iroquois cities are obtained by us (via culture or via agression) then the corruption savings will extend to these cities as well.

I see culture flips with the Iroquois to be very unlikely by now. And there won't be a war with them unless they declare on us, or 15 die-hard pacifists suddenly change their minds.

Did everyone forget that this is Vanilla Civ3, and not C3C? Unless we're contemplating a palace jump...

I did not forget, and thus was sorely torn between Odawara and Doomsville.

And I tend to keep as many options open as possible. Oda was slightly near, but it was about as far from Fan as it was from Onimato
